.: My Son and Me :.

Written by Lovely Videl based on Rumiko Takahashi's incredible anime, "Inu Yasha".
Written on the feelings of a sorrowful mother for her isolated son, Inu Yasha.

World, leave me be. Just leave him here with me.
Part from us, those ugly insults,
Just let it be, my son and me.

Let me stroke his star-white hair,
Let me hold him close.
Let me protect him from the hurt that's there.
Just let it be, my son and me.

World, how dare you call him such names,
Shouting "Hanyou" on the streets.
Inconsiderate with your heartless mind games,
I wish only to live to see him conquer over you in defeat.

Look into his eyes,
He's a fighter, can't you tell?
This little "hanyou" will drive you youkai
Back to your own homes of hell.

Don't you dare call him another name,
Don't you dare make him shed another tear,
World, why do you seek such morbid gain?
One day it'll be Inu Yasha whom you'll fear.

For now he'll stay within my arms,
As I dry the tears from his face,
Here - protected, loved, and warm,
Wishing only to find his rightful place.

So look at me, I am his mother.
Human I may be.
But don't underestimate a woman's heart,
So long as you let it be.

For rage my heart, and you'll rage his soul,
Rage his blood, and you've lost it all.
Bits and pieces will lie askew,
For that will be all that's left of you.

World, now look what you have done,
You've filled my heart with sorrow and hate
And made a despair within my son,
Sealing in his estranged fate.

Now here, in these precious moments,
The last I'll share with him,
Let me keep him in my embrace,
And a lullaby I will sing.

For can't you tell that he's only but a child?
Can't you sense his innocence?
My son whom makes my days worthwhile,
World, why are you so corrupt in such violence?

But for now, world please hush,
Keep your unwanted words to yourselves.
Keep at bay from my mistrust,
And please go and bother someone else.

Leave my Inu Yasha alone,
For such a fine warrior he will be.
He will grow the strength of a demon,
But the heart of human is what you'll see.
A future he will have,
A life my son will live.
Even beyond my time,
He'll still have love to give.

But for now, let my baby,
My little son just rest.
Closed eyes and tweaking puppy ears,
Laying his tired head upon my chest.

"I love you," I will say,
As I kiss him gently upon the cheek.
But then my tears will begin to fall
As I will become incredibly saddened and rather weak.

So until Inu Yasha, my baby, my son so dear to me,
Has grown to be a fine young man
You'll have to let him be.

World, just leave us be. Just leave him here with me.
Part from us, those ugly insults,
Please, just let it be,
Let it be forever,
Just my son and me.

Author's Notes:

My second Inu Yasha poem! I actually like this one though.. it kind of came to me after re-watching the first few episodes involving Inu Yasha's early past. He lived such a sad life, didn't he? Poor guy... I guess that's why I just like writing poems on his relations to others... he has so very many different emotions.. even heartbreaking at times..

Well anyway, let's just say Inu Yasha is surely my favorite anime! I hope I can write more poems on it, or maybe even a fic! Thank you for reading! ^__^
