"I really wish you wouldn't do that." Severus' voice was filled with a bit of disgust. How could she be so damn cutesy sometimes? It sickened him.
Marlene looked up and rolled her eyes. "Fuck off Severus, you know, speaking to your child reminds them that you're here and that you love them and reassures them."
"It's still in the womb, Marlene," he shook his head as she began speaking to her stomach once more, rubbing it gently as she did so, smiling. He had to admit, she was rather adorable. Okay, perhaps more than rather adorable, more like fucking sexy and the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, but he couldn't help thinking so. She was perfect in every way, from her killer legs down to the way she put him in place. She was the perfect candidate to be the mother to his child, even if she was too cute about it.
"And then, your daddy forgot to use a simple charm and that's how you were made, yes it was. Daddy's terrible in charms, I'm surprised he passed his N.E.W.T.'s, I hope you're better," she began making cute baby noises. How in the hell was the most stubborn, snarky, bitchy woman that he knew so fucking cute when it came to this?
Groaning, he moved over to their bed. "Marlene, must you tell it those stories?" He said incredulously. What got into that head of hers sometimes? "Shouldn't it be a little older?"
Marlene laughed. "Severus, it won't remember, besides, it's good for him to understand that his father can be a big git sometimes and not to take it personally," she told him cheekily.
Severus blinked. A boy? Did she know that for sure? Was she just making assumptions? Was she trying to drive him mad? Until now, he hadn't really thought of the baby as much more than an it, but a boy? A son to have a second chance with? To prove that he could be better than his father? A small lump rose up in his throat as he thought about it. Severus had wanted a girl, an adorable little replica of his wife, to have him wrapped around her little finger, but a boy worked just as well.
He took a moment before speaking. "A boy?" His voice cracked. Great. Very manly. No wonder she married you.
Her eyes were sparkling and she looked amused. Merlin… it was a boy.
"Did I forget to tell you?" She asked innocently, moving her feet into his lap, wiggling her toes at him. They usually fought about him rubbing her feet, she abused her power over him and milked the 'I'm pregnant' line, but this time, he found himself absent-mindedly giving her a foot massage, thinking.
"Huh," was all the he could say as he brought her foot closer, massaging it even deeper.
"A boy?" He needed to learn some better speech skills. She had a habit of rendering him speechless. Damn woman. She had to have such power over him, didn't she? His fault for loving her, he supposed, but she made it incredibly hard not to.
"Severus, you're incapable of understanding speech now?"
Leaning over, he took her face in his hands and kissed her, hard. "Merlin, I love you."
"I love you too, daddy."
Daddy? He liked the sound of that.
