Ben called me over the phone.

Lock the doors and keep an eye out for Kevin, he said.

But somehow, Ben had assumed nothing of my bedroom window.

With that in mind, I went up to my room and waited for Kevin.

The Plumbers would cross the Earth 5 times trying to catch him, but I knew he'd come here first.

Sure enough, it was 10:16 when Kevin climbed in.

He acted surprised to see me, but he probably expected me to be there anyway.

"It's funny," I said, "how everyone thinks you're so mysterious and unpredictable."

Kevin chuckled as he approached my bed and knelt down to my eye level.

"Perhaps…"

He held his thumb softly against my cheek.

"But we know better, don't we?"

Gripping the back of my head firmly, he pulled in to kiss me.

About a minute later, the doorbell rang.

He broke the kiss and slowly stood back up.

"Don't worry," he reached into his pocket and took out an ID mask.

"I got this."

I stopped him as he walked out of the room.

"Be safe."

He quickly kissed me again before he put on the ID mask, taking the form of my dad.

I didn't look as he went downstairs and opened the door, but I heard the conversation go like this:

"Can I help you?"

"Sorry to bother you, Frank. We're looking for Kevin Levin. Have you seen him?"

"No, not recently."

"Just keep an eye out for him, OK?"

"Sure. Have a good one."

I then heard the door close shut.

After waiting a few seconds, I went downstairs.

But Kevin wasn't there.

Though he had left behind the ID mask and a note that read:

I may have broken out for now, but they'll never break me away from you.
