The number of protoforms left after the various attacks on the onlining centers was depressingly low; even with the Great War at an end and the Decepticons being systematically exiled, it would take centuries to rebuild before even starting to think about manufacturing more. The few left in this particular facility weren't well-guarded, only the occasional medbot stopping to check that none of them were in danger of self-termination, so it was no surprise that an uninvited guest managed to slip inside.

The seeker looked around nervously, a small reinforced box held against his chassis as he walked swiftly into the protoform chamber. He knew that there was little time, and the danger of being caught was high in spite of the lax security. Even those of the seeker race that had not fully aligned themselves with Megatron had been opposed to many of the Autobots' ideals, and thus they were being rounded up as well. He suspected that the lot of them would be shuttled off to Charr or one of the more distant planets; either way, the proud Vosian flyers would never see their home city again.

This truth made his mission so very important. The box he held contained a precious mystery, something from the first of the great wars and said to be of seeker origin. The citizens of Vos had kept it a secret from all outsiders, and not even those who had been full-fledged Decepticons had shared word of the box with their faction-mates. As panic had begun to fall around them, this seeker and the other guardians decided that the treasured secret must be kept safe at all costs.

He knew, even as he examined each of the protoforms for defects, that he had only two choices: steal the best of these malleable protoforms to house the treasure, or place the contents of the precious box into the best shell and hope for the best. In one case the guardians would be able to watch over their historical artifact closely, perhaps help to recreate the world from which the secret came; on the other, chance would come heavily into play and possibly alter everything.

The sound of footsteps in the hall made the decision for him. Turning to the left-most protoform, the seeker opened the stasis pod and pulled the shell free. He placed it on the ground and crouched beside it before opening the box. A brilliant white light spilled out, causing the footsteps passing by to pause and then double-back as the glow spilled into the hallway.

The medbot on duty entered the room just as the seeker dropped a casing containing the treasure of Vos – a white spark shot through with streaks of gold – into the protoform's chest cavity. Violet eyes shifted to meet Autobot blue before the intruder stood and fled, pushing his way past the medic and racing down the hall. The seeker knew that the other bot would have to make a choice between pursuing him or checking on the newly-onlined protoform, little more than a seekerling; given the vows made by the medical guild, he knew that he would escape without incident.

Taking to the sky, the seeker winged his way back to Vos, where he would await his fate with the other guardians. The Star of Vos was safe now, away from Decepticon influence.

End Note: Three guesses on the crossover and what, exactly, the Star of Vos is, and I doubt anyone really needs the first two guesses. Also feel free to make a guess on who interrupted.

And yep, I do have some weird-ass dreams.
