This is my first story, I hope you like it! Please review if you like it or if I did really badly... ^^

Smellerbee still didn't know why she had survived and Longshot and Jet had not. But somehow she had found herself outside of Ba-Sing-Se, battered and bruised, with a broken rib, but alive. She could not properly assess her injuries, partially due to blood loss. If she had, she would have known she was worse off than she thought.
Now, however, she didn't know where to go. She had no family now. The only people she possibly had were Pipsqueak and The Duke, and they were nowhere to be found.
She stumbled along the road, turning around to stare at Ba-Sing-Se. She nealy choked at what she saw.
A huge red flag graced the city, the fire nation symbol emblazoned on it.
She fell to her knees in anguish. That meant all of the Earth kingdom was essentially beaten. Her country, now completely controlled by another force, a nefarious force.
She didn't know when she finally rose to her feet, but she did, and she started walking again. She had to find Pipsqueak and the Duke if it was the last thing she did. She stumbled off, on the long journey, not knowing she had no shot.
As she hobbled along, her foot hurting immensely from injuries sustained during the fight, she felt the need to lie down and sleep. It was getting very cold fast. She lay down, almost fighting her need to slumber. Just a little sleep wouldn't hurt...
Her frozen corpse was discovered in the morning by a shocked pair of travelers. They searched for some way of identifying her, but there was none. One of them, an artist, drew her still form in a quick sketch, and then they buried her.
The sketch would eventually end up in the hands of a Fire Nation soldier, then a Fire Nation merchant, then the prince of the fire nation, who was trying to return items to their rightful owners, into the hands of the Avatar, who recognized the girl in the picture, and then it came into the possesion of The Duke and Pipsqueak.
And the fate of the masculine female freedom fighter finally came to light.
