Jeremie sat alone in his room,
Facing a screen, eyes lifeless and blank
Down the hall Aelita giggles with Odd
This is what life should be she thought
If only she was more pretty he thought
Yumi told her she deserved better
That Jeremie wasn't worth her time
Was Aelita supposed to wait forever?
She wanted to live to experience life
All while forgetting
Who gave it to her
And up the hall, in his room cold and dank
Jeremie sat facing a screen
His eyes lifeless and blank
In Jeremie's room, he tiredly gets to work
The world won't save itself, he thought
Outside his room, she thought to herself tonight
Tonight will be the last I am shackled to him
She opens the door
"Jeremie," she says
"We were supposed to go out, you forgot I guess."
"Aelita, no, I've just been busy.
X.A.N.A's on the move and the world is in danger,
I have to keep working, or everyone will die-"
"Save it," she said, her eyes speak contempt,
While ignoring the strain, the desperation in his eyes
"I'm tired of you, pushing me off.
I'm sick of playing second string to your work.
I'm done with you, and with your 'work'
Am I supposed to put my life on hold for you?"
She storms from his room, but he cannot follow
He has to keep working, or the world will fall
She doesn't want to put her life on hold…
That was a job for Jeremie to do
That was what he was for
To spend foodless days
And work sleepless nights
In order that she could live among them
And down the hall, she meets up with Odd
Eyes bright, excited
They leave for the night
Tiptoeing past Jim, as to not be caught…
While in his room, Jeremie sets to work,
The world won't save itself he thought.
Devastated and weary, Jeremie works all alone
Shunned by all for choosing the world over his friends
In the forest Aelita and Odd
He makes me live she thought
If only she was taller/curvier/thinner/prettier/better he thought
Down the hall Ulrich and Yumi
So long as we're together he thought
She really deserved better she thought
How could I have done different
To save her, the world…
I did everything to keep her safe
And ended up losing her, because of my
Refusing to let the world end
he thought to himself

For the loss of the girl he'd done everything for
For the boy who was his friend who stole her from him
For his friend who thought Aelita deserved better
For his friend who couldn't really care less
While they hung with each other
None of the caring to help him through
That night
Together
All of them slept
Except for Jeremie
Who in his room, wept
Mind fracturing under stress, responsibility
And loss
Jeremie sits on his own
Forced to work
Eyes dead and grey
While in their room Odd and Aelita play
And Ulrich cares not, wishing his friends away
While Yumi thinks he should work all day
Odd begs Aelita, that night, to stay
In his room, Jeremie's mind begins to fray
The price for her life he must pay
While he wishes that he could end it today
But knows he cannot end it that way
The world on his shoulders
So still he must obey
The stress X.A.N.A gives him everyday
So he works on his work
