The pups would never be prepared for a disaster that altered their universe.
It started out with just tremors. Adventure Bay experienced rattling that knocked over cups, but that was it. After a few of those, they got stronger. Car alarms went off and buildings shook moderately. People fled outside in fear, thinking that the buildings would fall. A few of those happened, but they upgraded to a 6.0 and actually caused damage. But then the big one came.
The big one was a massive 9.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked southwestern Canada and the northwestern United States. The epicentre of the disaster was just off the coast of Adventure Bay at the bottom of the ocean. The Bay was the first to experience the shaking, and it slowly crawled towards Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and went north towards Juneau and Anchorage. In went in the continent as far east as Regina, Detroit, and Chicago and slight quivering were felt in Tokyo and Seoul. Stronger than the Valdivia Earthquake in Chile by .3 points, The Great West Coast Earthquake was the world's strongest recorded quake. It lasted over 20 minutes, making it the longest earthquake ever. It killed over 400,000 people, making it the second deadliest. It causes $67 billion in damages, making it the costliest. This earthquake broke many records, but the main thing broken was the hearts of the PAW Patrol.
The earthquake rocked every building from the houses in the hills to the Lookout down to the ground. The bridge that linked the tower to the town had completely fallen down, and over 800 of the 1,200 people who lived in the town died. And if anything was still standing from the terrible disaster, a tsunami with an average height of 600 feet swept across the coast as far in as Carson City, Nevada. It was a miracle if any of the pups survived, but that miracle didn't happen. Rubble died when the Patroller Bridge fell down within the first three minutes of the earthquake. Ryder was confirmed missing after the tsunami, and Rocky, Chase, and Marshall were severely injured. Because of the disasters in Canada, the pups had to leave the country entirely, as the case of economic collapse was extremely likely. America was following Canada, so the pups only had European and Asian countries to pick from.
