Jacob asks Bella to meet him at his house. She is reluctant because Edward hasn't come back from his hunting trip yet, but agrees. It has been to long since she has seen Jacob. When she arrives at his house something in his expression tells her he knows why Edward isn't home yet.

"What's wrong Jacob, what happened?" Bella asks, worried about her friend and husband

Jacob, seeming like he doesn't even know that she is there, talks to himself. "I had to do it. If I can't have you no one will."

After a moment she understands. "Oh, my God, Jacob. What have you done?" 

His eyes fill with hate and anger. "What I had to do, to save you from being a monster… To give yourself to that leach! Ugh!"

Jacob grabs Bella's wrist and pulls her toward him. His grip is too strong and he breaks her wrist. She lets out a scream. He starts kissing her and she is screaming "Let me go!" 

The door bursts open. It's Charlie and he has his gun in his outstretched hands. 

"Let her go Jacob." Charlie bellows.

The gun is pointed at Jacob's gut. Seth is enters behind Charlie. Jacob is crazed because he has been betrayed by his pack brother and leaps out to attach. He bursts into his wolf form and Charlie fires his gun, a thud is followed by the sound. A whimper escapes Jacob's lips. He moves once more and then he is still. Bella's shriek breaks the silence. Charlie comforts her while Sam checks the still, giant wolf. 

"It's okay, sweetie. Daddy's here." Charlie murmured. 

 "Where's Edward?" Bella half screamed.

Charlie said silently, "We don't know."

The howling of wolves erupts outside. Bella throws her arms around Charlie and starts to cry.

Weeks latter Bella is lying on the floor of her living room, looking at her bandaged wrist as she recalled that night.

"It's lucky your father in-law is a doctor." She says to herself. 

She starts to fall asleep on the rug she is laying on. She imagines that Edward is lying next to her. She could feel the cool tips of his fingers tracing her face and lips, the feeling of his lips on her neck. And finally, the cool kiss that would send her into a dazed state. She cries until she falls asleep. When she wakes up it is morning, she is not alone.

He was sitting on the floor next to her. His pale figure looked exactly, if not better, then she remembered it. When he saw her eyes were open wound his arms around her and kissed her until she couldn't stand it.

"I thought you were dead. That he killed you. What happened?" Bella mumbled into his chest.

"He had another pack in north Canada help him keep me hostage. Alice couldn't see because of the wolves. Seth was in his other form when Jacob died, that is how he and the rest of the pack knew where to find me." Edward almost growled.

Bella cried, "Why didn't they tell me?"

"They didn't want you to know incase they were too late… I thought you would have made them change you by now." He seemed very surprised by the fact that she was still human.

She laughed lightly. "What is the point of forever if your not here?" 

He starts to kiss her then, holding her to him tightly.

"Are you ready?" Edward whispered.

She takes a deep breath and nods. He kisses her lips softly and leans toward her neck. She lets out a gasp. Her human life is now over.
