Felling Green: A Tribute To Jim Henson

It had been a long day rehearsing at the studio that had the show "Up late with Miss Piggy" and the show was going to do a tribute to father's everywhere for father's day week*. It had been a week since the Muppets had improved the show by making a few tweaks the show and adding more skits involving the other Muppets to the show, and everyone was doing what they can to make the father tribute work out perfectly.

The Electric mayhem was just finished practicing a song for the show, and the members were now getting ready to go off doing their own thing. Floyd and Janice are were walking Animal at the nearest park, Zoot was just going home to bed (It was a long day for him), Lips was going to be on his computer, and Dr. Teeth was going home to check out a movie.

"Wow! Like, that's gotta be our best practice yet!" Janice said

"Yeah, shocking that even Zoot was just focusing on the music." Floyd butted in.

"At least it was worth it for the show," Zoot said, "Give me some credit."

"'Zoot's right, we all need to concentrate on our skills for the show." .

"Yeah". Everyone replied as Floyed grabbed Animal's leash as he was ready to leave.

As they were leaving the stage, they saw Kermit and Yolanda arguing and Kermit leaving to go outside.

They walked to the female rat to find out what was going on. "Like, what's up with the boss?" Asked Janice.

"He's just been quiet since we started rehearsal. I tried to talked about it with him, but he's to stubborn to talk about it."

As Yolanda left, The band decided to check on their boss since the forecast called for rain for the rest of the day and on through the night which started eight minutes an ago. So, they went to the same direction that he went and saw him sitting on a bench in the rain looking sad. Kermit held his knees on the bench crossing his hands together.

It took a total of twenty minutes before Floyd asked "Man, what's up with the frog today?"

"I don't know," replied, "But I do know that he's gonna catch a cold if he stays in the rain too long."

"Fer sure." Janice agreed.

With that being said, Zoot charged into his knapsack that he carried on his back the entire time. He took off his red-stripped jacket and putted on his navy blue jacket.

"Uh, Zoot?" asked, "What're you doin'?"

"I'm gonna get Kermit out of the rain, that's what." Zoot said.

Zoot laid his knapsack by Janice's feet and he ran outside. The band could see Zoot, covering Kermit with his jacket, lifting him up and leading him inside where it was warm.

"Hey frog breath, man, what happened?" Floyd asked.

"Like, Floyd, let him calm down a bit." Janice said as she rubbed Kermit's' shoulder.

"Jan's right." Zoot said, he turned to Kermit, "C'mon man, lets get you home."

As the band helped Kermit to his house, noticed some tears dripping from his face, even some from the rain outside. "The frog must be upset on somethin'." thought. When the band finally reached the house. said "You guys go ahead without me. I'll stay here and help our frog friend out."

"Alright. You okay with takin' a cab, man?" Floyd asked the band leader/keyboardist.

"Absolutely." Dr. Teeth said.

One the rest of the band left, Dr. Teeth turned Kermit towards him. "Boss, I'm not mad, ok? Just get your PJs on and come on out here. I wanna talk to you." he said. Kermit nodded as he went inside and upstairs, leaving in the living room.

When Kermit was done drying himself with a towel and changed into some pajamas in the bathroom, he came out, and headed out the door to the living room. was waiting for him. "Warm again, eh?" asked, trying to cheer Kermit up again a bit. Kermit smiled and shrug, even gave a small chuckle. motioned Kermit to sit down on the chair.

"Ok, I saw some of your tears drip down on the way up. What's wrong?" asked.

Kermit didn't speak, not even to say he was fine even though he clearly wasn't, whatever was making him upset made him upset even more.

"C'mon man, you can tell me. Whatever it is, it'll be ok."

Kermit sighed, more tears were dripping down from his face. He was just scared to tell why he's like this.

"I mean, you were ok this morning and before the rehersal. Didn't everything end up aright?" asked as he petted Kermit's back.

Kermit looked at him and nodded, "Yeah. I did...it...i..it just brought back a lot of personal memories for me and I didn't want to talk to anyone about it."

"What do you mean?" asked.

Kermit took in a deep, sad, (I'm gonna cry in a minute), breath, trying to hold back tears. "Remember when you and the rest of the bend met my friend Jim Henson?"

nodded.

"Well, It's just that….that…" Kermit tried to say but was having trouble to do so, it looked like he was about to cry now.

"Tell me, man. It'll be ok." assured as he placed his hand on Kermit's back.

"I just hate that he's dead**, he was like a father to me***, and I just sadden by the fact the he couldn't see the show that we are doing at thee studio." Kermit said as he begin to cry again.

couldn't believe what he just heard. He grabbed Kermit and held him for a half-hug. Kermit then calmed down enough to stop crying.

"Don't worry, Boss, everything will be ok." begin to say. "You been doing so much good stuff for us all, Jim would have been proud of you. And I bet he would have wanted you to go on with the show, with or without him."

"How do you know?" Kermit asked.

looked at Kermit and smiled. "I just know." he replied. That made Kermit smile a bit.

The next day, Kermit had gathered up the courage to tell everyone else about it, and everyone give him a lot of support, even from the rest of the electric mayhem who suggested that Kermit do a song in Jim Henson's honor, to which Kermit agreed to do. On the day of the show, it was a huge success, especially the finale with Kermit Singing Rainbow Connection in memory of his father. In the End Kermit was glad he was able to talked to about this. He knew that somewhere deep down, They were more than friends, they were brothers****.

* I originally wanted to do this on the day of Jim Henson's death, but then it would have been to emotional. P.S. It's father's day today.

** I think Kermit would be upset about Jim Henson being dead.

*** I thought that Kermit would see Jim Henson as a dad, especially today since it's father's day.

**** I think that Kermit and would have some sort of brotherly bond between them since they are both voiced by Jim Henson.

In honor of Jim Henson: 1954 – 1990.

Happy Father's day everyone.
