Choices
My whole life has been about choices. Asked to choose between the darkness and the light. Told to be perfect in one or the other. I chose the darkness. A choice I regret. So I changed, moved to the light where I thought they would understand shades of grey. And now I am expected to charade as blackness and still be as bright as them.
Who am I?
Darkness or light? Blackness or white? Did I lose all the light when I took the mark? Can darkness erase the light? Eclipses, shadows, the night over day. But there is still the dawn, and the candle in a dark room, and the white chalk across the blackboard. I chose my lover in the dark - when he shone most brightly amid the pain and terror. He is the light in my life. His eyes sparkling, not empty like mine. His skin still pale against my stained fingers. His spirit still shining through the grey smudge of mine. Harry. He is what gives me my shades of grey. The light chases away the shadows.
Will he chase me away too?
