Out of the three challenges I have taken place in, this one seems to be the simplest. Although I feel the need to have fun with it otherwise xD. Please check out the Fanfiction Millma Verse Page, the owners, Millie and Sigma, are the ones who created this challenge.
Barry had just got knocked down by Livewire, who smirked at the man mockingly. "You may generate Electricity, but I am Electricity." Livewire gathered as much power as she could in her palm, before releasing it onto the tachyon device, that she supposed was what gave Barry his powers.
The man shrieked in pain as the device attatched to his chest blew to pieces. Livewire cackled, and saluted Barry, before turning to electricity and dissapearing.
Barry cursed under his breath when he checked the tachyon device, well... what was left of it. The thing was completely shattered, no stray piece was even remotely big. The tachyon device was the only thing that would have allowed him to get home, and now it was unusable.
His head hung in defeat for a few moments, while his mind raced with so many outcomes and possibilities. While everybody in his home earth was probably waiting for him, Barry couldn't help but imagine staying here. Yes it was selfish, but Kara was somebody who related to him on a level that his friends just couldn't.
He was stuck here...
But Kara was here...
No, he needed to get home to defeat Zoom...
But the breaches were closed, his family was safe, and maybe he could be safe with Kara...
This isn't right, meta humans still threatened Central City and he needed to help them...
Maybe a good meta human will stand up and fight the threats, and Barry could just stay here...
He could contrast between his decisions all day if he wanted to, but cheering in the crowd below broke Barry out of it. He stood up and peered over the edge of the building to see Livewire and Silver Banshee knocked out, with Supergirl floating above them. She wore a cheery smile while thanking the people when they made the effort to compliment the Kryptonian.
Even if he had doubts about staying here, he couldn't help but feel happy for the woman. When the two had explained their pasts, superhero lives, and normal lives to one another- Barry and Kara had empathy to the point where it was scary. He watched as Kara continued to interact with the crowd, taking pictures, and wondered if he should actually tell her that he might be stuck here. He needed to let himself grieve, but he wasn't sure if he wanted Kara to be involved in it as well.
He sped down the building and towards Kara, who had just gotten finished with her last picture with a kid.
"It seems Supergirl will get the happy ending she deserves." Barry stated with a smile, catching her attention. Kara looked at the man for a moment, before laughing and bringing him into a hug.
"Well she couldn't have done it without The Flash."
A Week Later
Barry sat across from Kara on her couch, the two laughed while binging on all of her favorite movies. The two shared many emotional moments that day, laughter, crying, hatred, ect. They had grown quite close over the week, sharing more and more secrets with each other as they opened up.
Barry still felt guilty, he hadn't shared the reason why he was staying here with Kara yet. His excuse was that his friends we fine with him spending some time here, then he would travel back to his earth. Of course, being as oblivious as she was, Kara believed him.
At some point she brought up the fact that his time here was limited, Barry laughed nervously and glanced at her. Barry still was under the impression that he didn't want Kara involved in his grief. She was too bright, and if he was honest with himself, Barry was as well.
The movie ended and Kara yawned loudly, stretched, and then cheerily gave Barry a goodnight before speeding off to her bed.
Barry rubbed his eyes as well, a sudden loss of energy spread through him, and rolled onto his side- before falling asleep...
His nightmare was inevitable, but it still did come to as a surprise to Barry when he found himself in star labs. He looked around and immediately realized that he was in the cortex. But that didn't catch his attention, the voices of his old friends did.
"He's gone." Cisco whispered.
"No he's not! We can figure out a way to get to him."
"Just shut up Iris! His suit disappeared, it's probably in another universe that we won't discover for years." Cisco growled, staring down the woman.
"Cisco, he can't be dead." Caitlin mumbled, her head buried in her hands.
"True friendship." Harry commented, with a blank expression. "Your supposed friend has a name, Barry."
"So what exactly have you been doing Harry!?" Cisco spat. "We've been trying to come up with conclusions, and nothing seems to work!"
Tears fell down Cisco's face, it was clear that he was taking this the hardest considering he had built the Tachyon Device. Barry walked over to Cisco, and attempted to wipe away the man's tears. His hand just simply phased through them.
"I'm still alive." Barry whispered to Caitlin when he walked over to her. Her head was still in her hands, so it was clear she was angry with herself as well.
It annoyed Barry how he couldn't do anything to help them, he had never felt so damn useless in his life.
Suddenly, the room around him started to crumble, and Barry groaned as he sprang up from his... dream? Although it felt too realistic to be one.
"Barry." He barely had time to process what had just been said when a hand wrapped around his mouth. Barry tried to phase but it didn't seem to work, he attempted to fight back. "Hey! Relax it's just me."
Barry calmed down a little and noticed that it was J'onn who had been standing there. "O- J'onn what are you doing!?"
"I felt the presence of somebody else roaming around in your head, so when you fell asleep I tried to read that person's mind through you. Which means your... dream, was a result of me looking into that kid's memories." J'onn explained.
"That kid being Cisco." Barry realized, and J'onn nodded. So that wasn't a dream, it was Cisco's memories.
"And I found your secret." J'onn stated, and Barry tensed. "Oh I don't suggest worrying about me. I know you're faster than I am, so I can't really beat you up. But, if her sister gets ahold of this info information, then I recommend you do what you do best- run. Anyway, you should ask yourself this. Is your ordeal really that bad, you seem to be overreacting."
J'onn flew out of the area, leaving Barry sitting on the couch in confusion.
He rubbed his head and sighed, today Kara was taking him out to get clothes and food until he got home.
Later That Day
Kara guided Barry throughout the streets, showing him different shops that were strangely arranged. People shuffled along the streets, some steady and others basically pushing past Barry and Kara.
Kara kept where they were going a secret, which annoyed Barry to an extent but made him exited at the same time.
They continued to sprint through the crowds when they stopped at a store that Barry didn't recognize... Ugh.
The next few hours were spent with Barry trying on outfits, and listening to Kara babble her opinion on it. Barry put on one outfit, a comfortable tee and jeans, which Kara immediately accepted. Barry had to admit, her reaction was kind of cute.
In the end, Barry had bought four or five outfits that Kara was apparently fine with. They headed out of the store, which meant it was time to buy food for him... with Kara's money. She didn't seem to mind, but Barry really needed a job, even if it meant getting one in secret.
This time though, Barry was dragged into a nearby alley by Kara. She ripped off her shirt to reveal her Supergirl outfit.
"Ka-" Before he could say anything, Kara grabbed him and flew into the sky. Barry screamed as they shot throughout the clouds, and it was clear to him she just wanted to fly.
The two landed near the food market, where Kara had already changed back into normal clothes.
"Sorry, I just had to get here faster." Kara said with a smile, and Barry sighed.
They slowly, to Barry's annoyance, picked out the food they needed throughout the aisles. Kara ignored the looks that came their way, considering she and Barry could eat a mansion made of food- they had been carrying a cart each.
This time though, it was only half an hour in the store. They finished up quickly, and reluctantly decided to speed little by little of their groceries to Kara's apartment.
Once they had gotten everything sorted, Kara had one more thing that she needed to do, which earned a groan from Barry. They ate quickly, before changing into their Superhero outfits and going out to monitor the city.
Kara usually did this by herself, but since Barry was here she decided to drag him along as well. They looked around, stopping the occasional robbery here and there. Barry found it weird that the criminals on this earth seemed to be a lot smarter than the criminals on his.
Then, Kara supposedly heard a scream somewhere in the city. So they sped towards the victim, ready for a fight. Barry's breath nearly caught in his throat once he was faced the scene.
J'onn was already there, facing Leslie who looked ready to kill anybody in her path. The two people who knew about him being stuck here, well one anyway, were face to face. If he and Kara took place in the fight, with a mind reader, then he would probably lose either way.
Sorry for the hangover lol I'll upload the conclusion chapter tomorrow.
