Falling. It's a beautiful thing really, it's about as close as you can get to being free, and not free as in laws, government, and the enlightened ramblings of imperfect politicians, but free in its most primitive and sacred state. But even birds have limits. When you are soaring on wings, you become tired, hungry, and sore .However, when you let go and fall, you can feel the wind flooding past every inch of your body at impossible speeds, and in the face of danger, in the eyes of death, you become serene, at peace. Around you is the world, but you near nothing, you are alone, and the one thing you can hear, is the silence.
Silence is a luxury one rarely finds for even when all is quiet and still, a clock ticks or your own breathing sounds lazily through your mind and creates a chain that holds you down. People down below can't understand their chains because their muscles have been made strong by the iron, and they don't notice the world above them. Is this why caged birds sing? Perhaps theirs songs are those of heartache, for they of all creatures would know that the best of the world is waiting for them, just out of reach.
Falling. The most exhilarating, adrenaline pumping experience… And yet I feel relaxed. I feel calm, serene, the sky is my temple, and to pass through is a prayer.
When I finally open my eyes, I can estimate about two hundred feet, thirty seconds to the ground, and I frown when I realize my focus has fallen faster than I, and has already been bound to the soil. As I unfurl my beautiful tan wings to slow my decent from the heavens, I realize only I can feel this way. I love the sky because I am different, I don't crash, I land, and as my velocity dies, and my feet find purchase in the grass, I don my windbreaker to hide my feathers, and look out for my flock as I accept the chains of the soil.
AN: Lol, this is what I did when I finished a math test and was booored. Kinda random, but please R&R, or at least smile and think to yourself "Emily Rivers is so amazing and she is my idol‼!" jk, or just that you liked it!
