A/N: I actually got inspired to write this from someone with the URL "personificationofgreed". I figured it was time for a dark story, everything I've been writing lately is so light-hearted. :3
This is a Oncie fanfic, I'll let you know now, but I'm not so sure about the end of this...
It's a oneshot. For now at least.
Readers enjoy!

"In a dark place far far away, there lived a terrible monster. His name was Greed, and he preyed only upon the most unsuspecting and open minds. Many who were aware of him, but did not take necessary precautions, were devoured. It became so extreme that all people were scared to go within a two-hundred mile radius of the being, and anyone under suspicion of consorting with Greed would be put to death.
Then, one day, a man walked right up to the monster. He wanted to rid the world of this awful fright, and he foolishly thought he could control such a powerful being. Just as Greed was about to swallow up the man, he made a proposition: If Greed let the man go, he would release the monster from his bonds. Greed thought about it for a while, and then finally agreed to the offer. But, the moment the man cut the chains binding Greed to his cave, the monster swooped out of his prison, grabbing the man who stood in front of him.
"You promised me you would let me go," reminded the man.
As Greed flew up into the overcast sky, he let out a laugh, a horrible laugh. It was squeaky and rusty, and it hurt the man's ears almost to the point of deafness.
"So I did," said Greed.
And before the man could respond, he dropped him, and the man went hurtling towards the sea thousands of miles below.
The man uttered a few more words as he fell to his death; he cursed the demon.
' As soon as you set foot on Earth again, you will never have any place to stay in peacefully. You will jump from mind to mind, constantly haunting others, acting so much like a shadow that you will eventually cease to have a personification of yourself. You will fade away, and never be feared or respected. You will never be known as yourself again.'
Greed took no heed of these last words, but, ever since he came back to Earth, he has been travelling around the world invisibly, looking for more fresh minds to overtake."
The girl reading ended in an ominous voice.
"Class, what have you learned from this story?" asked the teacher, a young woman of twenty-six.
No one spoke or raised a hand.
She looked at the back rows, then at the attendace list.
"Once-ler?"
The black-haired, blue-eyed boy jumped, then looked up from his doodling. He had a sheepish expression on his face, but a blank vacant one as well.
The class softly giggled and laughed as the lanky teenager tried to figure out the question.
"Uh... me?"
'What is the personification of greed?' You may ask. Well dear children, look around. Focus in on this boy. He is the very walking and talking image of Greed.
