A/N: Hey guys! I think the new fairy tail episodes are really inspiring me into writing more stories! I can't wait until they animate Zeref and Mavis's entire thing. This is probably going to be a two chapter thing. Anyway, let's get started.
This story takes place after the team gets back from their one year separation, but before they go back to magnolia. (A little before the current episode).
"WHAT!", Natsu yelled in shock. He really shouldn't have been surprised. Magnolia was a whopping 3,000 Km from wherever they were. It was pretty obvious they would have to take the train.
"I'm sorry, it's the only option!", Wendy said, but he could see the terrified expression lightly grazing her face as well.
Of course, she's activated her Dragon Force. She's suffering just like the rest of us, dragon slayers.
"Guys! It'll be fine. It's only for a little while.", Lucy said as she walked with Erza to the ticket booth, with Gray, the cats and a reluctant Wendy and Natsu trailing behind.
"You couldn't have told me before we got here?"
"No, Ash-for-brains! If we had, you wouldn't have came.", Gray told him with an amused expression on his face.
He truly felt sorry for Wendy, but had not an ounce of sympathy for Natsu.
"Yeah, well I'm still not coming. I'm staying put right here." Natsu said as he spat fire on the ground.
"Careful Natsu, you're going to hit someone.", Wendy said worriedly.
"I am careful!", Natsu retorted, but he spoke to soon.
A fleck of fire hit Erza and burnt a strand of her hair. She stopped abruptly.
Natsu's eyes widened as he froze.
Lucy face-palmed. Wendy stepped far away from Natsu so she wouldn't be in her line of fire.
Happy and Carla took off.
Natsu knew he was dead as Erza slowly turned around.
Gray smirked as he softly remarked, "Showtime."
Unfortunately for Gray, although Erza pulverizing Natsu was highly entertaining, he was stuck with carrying his lifeless body.
"I bet E.N.D's a train", mumbled the unconscious Natsu.
Gray rolled his eyes. Of course to Natsu, the evilest of all the enemies the team would face was a train.
"Is he okay?", Wendy asked, her hands itching to help heal him.
She was forbidden by Erza.
"Ash-brain's going to be all right. This is literally every day for him."
"Instead of physical training, he should have done mental training. Or taken a class on how not to get Erza mad.", Happy stated. He was still maintaining quite a distance from Erza.
Gray smiled. "It's been a while since we were all together like this, huh?"
"When we get back, let's all take a job.", Lucy said.
"Revival of the old team...", Erza grinned. "This time there won't be any destroying buildings."
"Don't go promise things you know you won't keep up."
Erza would have responded, but they reached the ticket booth. "Tickets please.", Erza said.
"Sorry Ma'am, but the last train left a couple of minutes ago. The next one leaves tomorrow."
"No train?", Natsu mumbled as he rolled himself out of Gray's arms and onto he floor. He managed to shakily stand himself up when he stopped dead in his tracks.
"This is your fault!", Erza yelled as she produced a sword.
"What! How is this my fault!", Natsu yelled.
"You made us waste time by forcing me to hurt you! Now I'll kill you!", Erza charged.
Gray sighed as he moved out of the way.
The team made their way to an hotel where Natsu slumped immediately into a bed. Gray sat on the side of the bed, next to him as Lucy and Wendy sat on the other.
"I wonder why he's so tired.", Erza remarked as she sat down in a chair, her anger at Natsu forgotten after she beat him up.
Gray snickered as Natsu groaned.
"Hey guys! Look, there's a dragon festival tonight nearby. Since we're stuck here until tomorrow, why don't we check it out?", Wendy announced, holding up a flyer.
Gray saw Natsu tense nearby. Surprising. I would have thought he'd leap to the chance to go to some dragon festival. Anything with the word dragon in it, riles him up. Not to mention, the train trip is postponed.
"Yeah sure. Let's give it a try.", Lucy said. Erza nodded in acceptance and Gray shrugged. The only dragon he actually had met tried to kill him and the people he loved, so he wasn't too big of a fan.
But, the dragons he'd heard about from the dragon-slayer's stories weren't too bad.
Gray's eyes met Happy's. The cat was the pinkette's best friend. Gray wondered if the cat had any idea what was bothering Natsu, but was given no answers as Happy had on a puzzled expression.
Natsu pushed himself off the bed and sat with them, a dull expression glazing his face. Seeing everyone's eyes on him, he forced a smile to appear.
"It's nice to spend time together again. After Tartaros...", Carla said.
Gray didn't like what he saw in Natsu's face as Carla said Tartaros. Actually, every body's face changed when Tartaros was brought up, including Gray's.
A silence filled the room.
Erza was the first to break that silence. "Soon we'll be with the whole guild."
Natsu grinned, and Gray was glad to see it was a real one. "Speaking of which. When are you three going to fight me?"
"Three?", Gray repeated. He was expecting himself and Erza, but not Wendy or Lucy.
"Yeah. Did you consider yourself to weak to fight with me? No, maybe you're right..", Natsu mused arrogantly.
"Seriously, Ash-for-Brains, who's the third person?"
"You are, Ice-princess."
"Whose the first?"
"The first...is Erza.", Natsu said dramatically as Gray punched him.
"Stop being annoying Flame-breath!"
"Well why don't you ask me the correct question, you Popsicle!"
"Who is the second person!"
"Carla."
Gray was about to yell another insult when he stopped. "Huh?"
"Carla's a cat with magic! Gajeel won't let me go near Lily, and I want to fight a cat!"
"Exceed.", Wendy interjected.
"Save it Flame-boy, I'm not fighting you. I'm a dignified lady."
A heated argument started up, and Gray's previous doubts were washed away.
