It was night time in Big Green, and everyone was asleep, except for Mystique Sonia. She couldn't sleep as she was worried. After being captured by the Zebra Brothers, she was worried about being captured again. She felt stupid that she got captured, and she couldn't do anything to stop to happening. Her eyes filled with tears at the horrible memory.
Just then, her bedroom door creaked open, and Mighty Ray appeared in the doorway. Her mood darkened even more!
"What do you want, Banana Brain?" She sneered at him.
"Your light it still on, I just came to see if you were ok. Are you?" He replied, unfazed by her tone, as he entered the room.
"Yes, I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" She said quickly, not really wanting to speak to him.
"After being captured by those Zebra dorks, I had been wondering if you were." He replied.
"Well, now you know, so now you can go away, Banana Brain." She sneered again.
"Sonia, I'm trying to be nice here, I was genuinely worried when I heard you'd been captured! I felt bad about what had happened that morning. I can clearly see you aren't ok, so tell me, please." He said desperately. Despite bickering with her on a regular basis, he hated to see a friend upset.
Sonia turned around and sighed, before starting to explain.
"I felt so weak, needing to be saved today. I felt stupid that I couldn't do anything to stop myself being captured by those Zebras and the kangaroo and gorilla kings. It's made me scared that I'll be captured again. She couldn't hold back the tears now. Mighty Ray reached over and stroked her on the back.
"Sonia, I don't think you're weak or stupid. It's not your fault if you get captured and it certainly isn't your fault if you need to be saved. That's why we work as a team. That's why we're First Squad! We leave no one behind, that's what good friends and teammates and for." He then smiled at her.
Mystique Sonia was amazed. Amazed at how Mighty Ray could be so understanding. She had been half expecting him to make fun of her. She then scooped him up and hugged him close. He blushed a very bright red at this, almost as red as his day wear, but he hugged her back.
"Thanks for being so nice." She said, as she lowered him down to the ground.
"You're welcome, he said, grinning a toothy grin at her. "Goodnight Sonia." He said, before going back to his room.
She called "goodnight" back to him, as she walked to her bed and climbed in. She felt really sleepy, as it was getting late, so she fell asleep, glad someone was able to make her feel better about an awful day.
