Aeris sat at the table stabbing at the eggs on her plate, staring into space.

"Aeris, honey are you alright" asked her mother asked with concern in her voice.

Her expressionless face turned to that of confusion, "What, yeah, yeah I'm fine mom."

"Are you sure, your staring into space again, is there something on your mind?"

There was something wrong and Aeris knew it, but she didn't know how to explain it and wasn't sure if she wanted to.

"I'm fine. Mom."

Aeris sat up and walked out of the kitchen. Unfinished food still at the table. She walked around the house completely lifeless before deciding to leave the house, stepping into her shoes by the front door, putting on her coat and checking her pockets for phone and money, fifteen dollars.

"Where are you going young lady?" Aeris heard echo from the end od the hall.

"Out." I'll be back later.

The door slammed shut as quickly as it was opened and Aeris was gone before her mom had a response.

She trudged through the snow and let out a faint sigh.

Aeris was a pink furred tom cat with white muzzle chest and stomach. She was nineteen years of age and lived with her parent who have lived in Toronto for four years. And hasn't been the same since the move.

Aeris POV

Why? Why can't I just be happy? I don't know why I'm here, I don't want to be. I can't stand anyone, all of my 'friends' are unbearable, I can't put up with their bullshit drama. I'm never going to forgive my parents for dragging me here, if I could afford to leave I'd be out of that fucking place in heartbeat.

General POV

Aeris continued through the street looking through the windows of the deserted stores and into the empty street, the same thing she did every morning. Except she saw something different on her usual route through the city. She saw one shop open before all the rest. She took a closer look to investigate. "Gamestop" she muttered to herself, she hadn't stepped foot into a game store for years, maybe she would take a look.

As Aeris stepped inside she felt herself immediately warm up as the door closed, she walked around the aisles looking at the variety of games most of which unheard of to her, but one seemed familiar somehow. 'Dungeon Guy 2' she knew why it seemed so familiar, she had gotten the 1st game as a gift. A tear rolled down her cheek. She tried to ignore it and looked for the price tag, nothing.

She took the case to the counter of the store and asked a guy at the counter for the games price. The man had short black hair and a 'I have better things to do' expression on his face.

"Pfft I dunno, I'll go check" was his slow response.

Aeris jumped as he shouted loudly to someone in the back room "Hey, come check this game!"

She looked down at the game thinking about the gift she got so long ago, but before she could think back further her thoughts were interrupted.

The sound of ringing.

A bell.

"What is it now!" responded a voice as a grey tomcat stepped up to the counter.

Aeris' head shot up immediately. She knew him.

"I'm busy, this better be importa..." his voice drifted off as he turned to Aeris.

They looked at each other with unbroken eye contact, The grey cat continued with his task and asked Aeris what she needed him for.

"Wha..."

"Leo?" Aeris interrupted before he could speak.

"Aeris?"

Her eyes sparkled and a smile came to her face. "It is you."
