"Does this happen every time he gets in trouble?" Sam asked Neville as the great hall went uncharacteristically silent.

Earlier in the week Harry and Ron, and Danny and Tucker started a prank war with one another. Though Slytherin and Griffindor's rivalry was well known in the past two months the two houses went from outright hating each other to a more simple rivalry. With Harry and Danny often pranking each other bring their friends and occasionally their house into it.

Though the latest prank got out of hand, no one was quite sure who did it but in the end the great hall was flooded, Harry, Ron, Danny, and Tucker got detention for the weekend and their parents were sent owls.

"Every time" he replied. They were at breakfast when silence fell over the great hall, the mail had come and everyone was waiting to hear the eldest Potter's howler. Unbeknownst to Sam, Danny, and Tucker the twins Fred and George had a betting pool on which parent got to the howler first James to congratulate him on the prank or Lily to scold him. Though no one ever really mentioned it the teachers and headmaster were in as well, just not with the students.

Looking over at the Slytherin table showed that Danny looked as confused as she felt, and a glance at the Ravenclaw table told her that Tucker was too. "I thought howlers were a bad thing though?" "They are," it was Hermione who answered, "most students bet on who wrote it, his mum or dad."

As she was about to ask why the teachers let it happen people started whispering as the Potter family owl flew in with the long expected letter. When Harry got it he didn't seem too nerves or embarrassed just resined to his fate.

"HARRY JAMES POTTER!" Sighs were heard all around as Lily yelled at her son. Looking around Sam noticed that everyone was going back to what they were doing and individual bets were being handed over. When her eyes passed over the teacher's table she couldn't help but snort as Dumbledore 'discretely' gave McGonagall a few galleons.

As the howler finished its message and tore itself up she could hear Fred and George going over who they had to collect galleons from. 'Maybe this school won't be as bad as I thought it would be.'

This idea came from a random post on 'LOL Picks'

- "If James and Lily had survived, I am positive that every time Harry git into trouble, there would be a huge betting pool on whether the next howler would be James and Sirius congratulating him or Lily screaming at him and commanding Severus to give him detention for a month. And as the Potter family owl would arrive, everyone would be silently anticipating the results, and at the end you'd see Dumbledore discretely handing McGonagall 10 galleons."
