Hey guys~ Just thought I'd let you know that constructive criticism is welcome, maybe even encouraged! I should probably also tell you that I tried to list Reese and Cyrus as major characters, but they didn't appear in the list of characters. So sorry about that. ;n; Anyways, enjoy~ ^^
"Violet, Violet! Time to get up, sweetie!"
"I'm already up!"
I lay awake in my bed. I didn't sleep much last night, if at all. I couldn't remember; I was too tired. Pushing the magenta duvet away from my face, I sat up in my bed. I was going to miss this bed. I sighed as I dragged myself out of bed. My faded reflection in the window greeted me as I did so. I was in a state; bags under my eyes, really pale face, terribly knotted fur... I grabbed my fur brush off of the windowsill and tackled the lavender mess atop my head.
As I brushed my fur, I heard a knock on my door. It was that eight-knock tune that you hear in cartoons as the "secret knock". I watched the handle push down as the pine wood door opened, revealing my dad.
"Hey, squirt!" He exclaimed gleefully from the doorway. "Just came up to check that you'd packed everything; I know what you can be like sometimes." He smirked. I noticed that he also had bags under his eyes too; they were even worse than mine.
"Didn't you get any sleep last night either?" I asked, although I already knew the answer. He sighed; I guess I was right.
He walked over to my bed and sat down, patting the mattress beside him. I plopped down beside him and placed the fur brush on the other side of the bed. I rested my head on his shoulder as he stroked my fur.
"I know how you feel about the idea of us moving, Violet. And in some ways, I feel the same way." He laughed under his breath, almost nervously, as he said this. "But we were offered a new job that we just couldn't turn down. You know that we're in a rough spot with our money right now, and the offer was too handy to turn down. Plus, I heard that Moonview was supposed to be a nice town; I'm sure that you'll love it"
I don't reply, because I already know that any argument I make will be inferior to his.
"Now, go and wash your face. You can have a sleep during the journey; I know I certainly will." He laughed and ruffled my fur as he said this, which made me giggle too. This is one of the reasons why I love Dad; he's always able to make me laugh, even when I'm feeling down. He stood up and wandered over to the door. "Maybe you can even have a nap now, if you've packed everything. Which I assume you have, looking at all the boxes stacked up in here." He looked around my room, and looked as if he was reminiscing. This made me smile gently. Suddenly, in the middle of the silent peace, he shook his head violently and focused on me again.
"I know that behind those bags are a pair of beautiful blue eyes. Just like your mother's." He smiled warmly and left the room, closing the door behind him.
