Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, they belong to Hollyoaks!
Summary: Brendan and Ste iron out a few issues. One-shot.
A/N: I had a sudden burst of inspiration this morning and wrote this. I was wondering how they could interact again in the future and thought of this. Just a drabble really.
All In A Kiss
"Stephen!" Brendan called across the village from the downstairs door of Chez Chez.
Stephen ignored him, walking on by. Brendan could tell he had heard him however by the stiffness of his stance.
"Come on, Stephen. What's the matter? Doug wearing ye out already?"
Stephen froze, turning to glare at Brendan. "Leave me alone, yeah?"
"Oh but how can I? My dear Stephen, love of my life etc" Brendan said sarcastically.
Stephen walked towards him. "You know what, Brendan? I find your need to constantly try and talk to me pretty pathetic. Do you really miss me that much?"
Brendan raised his eyebrows. "Seriously? I'm doing just fine without ye, or didn't yer last day at the club prove anything to ye?"
"It proved to me that you're so hell bent on getting over me that you'd fuck anything just to feel something" Stephen's eyes glinted dangerously.
Brendan felt a flash of anger but he hid it well. "Is that right?"
"You know I am" Stephen looked tired suddenly. "But this isn't my problem anymore. I've moved on, so should you" he turned to walk away.
"Wait" Brendan grabbed his arm. "Ye and Doug, there's really nothing going on?"
Stephen laughed, shaking off Brendan's hand. "Of course not. But wow, you're still jealous, even now?"
"I'm not" Brendan said gruffly. "I'm over ye"
"Okay then" Stephen smiled a little. "If you say so"
"I'll prove it to ye!" Brendan said aggressively. "Come here"
"Excuse me?"
"I'll kiss ye right here, and then I'll just walk away, no problem"
Stephen's expression changed to one of dismay. "Are you serious?"
Brendan nodded. "Clean break for both of us. Get rid of this" he gestured between them. "Tension"
"And when you say tension…"
"Ye know what I mean"
"You're mental"
"According to ye, I'm desperate so"
"Fine. Prove whatever you like. Sleep with whoever you want. Just leave me alone, alright?"
"No" Brendan stalked forwards, his hand snaking up Stephen's neck. He was delighted to see that look in Stephen's eyes again. Temptation. But he wasn't supposed to care about that.
"Brendan…" Stephen warned, his eyes drawn to Brendan's lips. "Don't" he said feebly. Brendan forgot what he was trying to prove for a moment and leaned in, caressing Stephen's lips gently with his own. Everything else faded away, the people, the village. All that was left was Stephen. Stephen who smelt so good, who tasted just right. The other men didn't compare, no matter how hard Brendan tried to replicate.
The kiss deepened and Brendan found himself once more lost in the beauty of Stephen Hay. No amount of bitching could break the spell between them, the inevitable pull they always felt towards each other.
Stephen pulled away first, sharply. The loss of his touch sent Brendan reeling for a moment until he composed himself enough to stare him down.
"See? Nothing" He almost believed himself, but his body felt cold where Stephen had once been so near. He still felt the burn of his hand resting at his waist and he rubbed at his lips absently, still feeling the pressure of Stephen's own lingering there.
Stephen looked at him, said nothing, and walked away. Brendan stared after him, wondering if Stephen had felt what he did. When Stephen stopped, looked back and they locked eyes, hostility forgotten for a moment, Brendan knew.
All in a kiss. If that was all it took, Brendan was in deeper than he had ever believed possible.
