Even though it was a few weeks before Christmas, the "Christmas Fever", as the teachers called it, was running rampant through the academy. Students had taken the liberty of decorating the hallways of the dorm, eating Christmas treats, and belting Christmas carols loudly throughout the campus.
At the end of the hallway, Milly and Tamyia stood, one carrying a fishing pole, and the other clutching a camera. A small clump of mistletoe hung on the end of the fishing pole. The girls were on a mission to capture unsuspecting couples for the front page of the Kadic News. The girls spotted Jeremie, Aelita, Ulrich, and Odd walking to lunch, and quickly hid around the corner. Milly, fishing pole in hand, waited until the voices were close enough, and jumped from her hiding place, catching Jeremie and Aelita under the mistletoe.
The group quickly silenced as all eyes were placed on the blushing boy and the clearly clueless girl underneath the mistletoe that was hanging from a fishing rod.
"What's going on?" questioned Aelita, clearly confused by the sudden halt and silence.
"When two people are caught under the mistletoe, they're supposed to kiss." said Ulrich with a smirk, causing Aelita to turn pink and take a sudden interest in her shoelaces.
Jeremie had turned a particularly deep shade of red. After gathering his courage, he lifted her chin so his eyes met hers and softly kissed her. Aelita, wanting to embrace this exhilirating and unknown feeling, closed her eyes, drew closer to him, and wrapped her arms around his neck. Jeremie's hand dropped from her chin and he placed it, as well as his other arm, around her waist.
With a sudden flash and the high pitched giggle of two girls, the couple, both now a fierce shade of red, were forcefully dragged back into reality. Tamiya had just jumped from her hiding place and snapped a picture of the two; however, as quickly as she had arrived, she had run away, taking Milly, the camera, and the fishing pole with her.
"Genius! Why didn't I think of that? Send us the picture!" Odd yelled after her. His stomach growled hungrily, replacing all previous thoughts with dreams of food. Odd picked up his pace towards the cafeteria, leaving the other three in a trail of dust.
"What a lovely Christmas card that will make." stated Ulrich, trying his best to contain his laughter. He then ran to catch up with his friend, who had already entered the lunchroom.
