Author's note: This story happened after the war with the dragons. Percival x Lalum. Just thought it would be amusing to write about this pairing :D
Disclaimer: I do not own Fire Emblem and the characters, of course =w=
It's almost sunset in Etruria. The autumn breeze gently blowing on the face of two of the heroes who had participated in the war with the dragons and Bern forces.
One is the mighty knight, Percival, whose skills are magnificent and looks stole many maidens' hearts. The other is Lalum, the cheerful and mischievous dancer who played important role in recruiting a few important soldiers to join the army.
Today is the day they have to part from each others' company after traveling together on missions for a few months.
None of them had said a word until they reach the road with two paths. One road leads to his destination, another leads to her destination. They stopped their horses and pretended to admire the view in front of them, though nothing can attract them anymore at this point. Their emotions running wildly in their hearts and minds.
So much they almost forgot, this is where things will change. This is where things are going to end. Lalum had her back facing him, she spread her arms and let the wind hits her body, as if her emotions would be blown away with the wind.
Percival thought he saw wings on her little body. It hits him that she is a creature of freedom. All the more reason for him to stop the thing going on in his mind.
"Lalum," Percival broke the silence.
"Before we part... would you dance for me?" her eyes widen, so was her mouth. She had not expected this.
Then come a sudden rush of emotions, knowing she won't see him again, knowing everything can't be reset, knowing that there's no turning back with this feeling in her heart. Then he opens the flap of his bag that he hung on his horse.
A beautiful chiffon shawl, dyed with the most vibrant blue she had ever seen. Like the colour of his eyes. He then places it on her shoulders, looking at her with eyes she could not comprehend.
"General Percival, what is..." she started. "For you to keep making people smile, Lalum," he said, and he smiled the most genuine smile he had ever seen. The very first smile he earned from him.
She felt tears struggling to rush down her cheeks, but she fights it. Once she knows she got it under control, she hugged him.
His lean and tall body against her small one for one brief moment. He is surprised, but he didn't push her. Lalum quickly backs away from him and stood straight, though her head facing the ground.
Lalum unties the ribbon on both of the buns on her head, and stuff all the accessories on her hair into her pants' pocket. Percival just stood there, watching her, unable to speak, unsure how to react.
Down went her orange hair, her sunset-coloured hair. Like a waterfall of fire from top of her head to just below her shoulders. His first time seeing how she looked like without her usual hair decorations. She looked fierce, strong, beautiful, more matured than how she usually looked like with her buns, she like a looked woman...
As they gaze into each others eyes, he can see her eyes glowing, burning, she might be a dancer, but she's also a fighter. She's strongly fighting her own childishness, she's trying to be a woman in front of him, at least for now.
Then Lalum closes her eyes, she started dancing. She's dancing to the tune of flashbacks in her mind...
