Just a little something that popped into my head. It doesn't really serve any purpose, just enjoy it.

Appreciation
Carolyn barely noticed as SG-1 quickly scrambled out of the infirmary. She had just finished patching them up due to a minor mishap on a planet apparently controlled by the Lucian Alliance. None of the injuries were serious so she'd let them go with a stern warning to at least try to stay out of trouble. Truth was, she didn't know how she would handle it if one or more of the flagship team didn't end up in the infirmary at least once a week.
As Carolyn started for her office, she glanced up to see Vala Mal Doran standing in the doorway. "Is there something you need, Vala?" she asked curiously.
"No." the dark-haired woman replied. "I just wanted to say thank you."
"For what?"
"Well, for...everything, I guess." Vala waved her arms in an all-encompassing gesture as she continued. "For always fixing us up, taking care of us, making sure we're okay. You know, everything."
"It's my job." Carolyn stated with a bit of a bemused quirk to her lips.
"I know." Vala waved away her statement. "But it's still nice to be appreciated for a job well done. So, thank you."
"You're welcome." Carolyn didn't know what else to say. She'd never been thanked for simply doing her job. Before she could say anything else, though, the alien grinned and left the room. Carolyn stood mystified for a few moments before a smile washed over her face. Vala was right, it was nice to be appreciated once in a while.
The End
