My second fanfiction on here! I wrote this months ago in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep, and completely forgot about it till now! Short and sweet, I hope you like it I don't own Harry Potter! Obviously. Do I even have to say that?
Draco nervously chewed his bottom lip, a habit his father would likely scold him for if he was still alive. He paced a straight line at the foot of his bed. No, his and Harry's bed. That thought only added to his nervousness, and he absently placed the palm of his hand against his stomach, his thumb lightly caressing it.
How would harry take it? They hadn't been together more than a year, and Harry only moved into his flat two weeks ago. They weren't ready for a child! He groaned, stopping his frantic pacing and turning on his heel, dropping onto the edge of the bed with his head in his hands.
What if Harry left him? No! Harry was his life. He couldn't let him leave. Maybe he shouldn't tell him yet, give them both some time… No, that wouldn't work, he had waited as long as he could and now he was showing well enough to be easily noticed. It was only Harry's frantic work schedule that allowed Draco to hide it this long. He had to tell him tonight. It was now or never.
"Draco? I'm home."
Okay, so maybe never.
"I'm sorry I'm late again. Kingsley just assigned me a new case and the files hu- Draco? What's wrong?"
From behind his hands, Draco let a choked sob wrack his body. Immediately, he felt strong arms pull him sideways into a hug, Harry's head resting atop his own.
"Draco, hunny. What happened?"
Draco could hear the concern heavy in Harry's voice, and it only made him cry harder. Soon that voice would turn angry, and then he'd never hear it again. Draco's head was slowly lifted out of his wet hands by warm ones, thumbs tracing under his eyes, wiping away the tears. Through his blurred vision, Draco could make out Harry's worried, face, his eyebrows knitted together, mouth pinched and eyes huge.
"Dray, please. Tell me."
Draco sobbed again, trying to force words past his stubborn lips.
"I'm… I-I'm…"
"What, baby? You can tell me, you know that."
"I-I'm pregnant." He finally managed to choke out, collapsing in Harry's arms, trying hard to breath between the uncontrollable sobs.
"Draco, that's great news! Why are you crying?" Harry asked ecstatically, his overjoyed smile quickly dissolving into worry and fear. "Why are you crying Dray? Is something wrong? With the baby? With you?!" Harry asked panic-stricken, dragging Draco's face up again, clasped between shaking hands.
"You-you want the baby? You want me?" Draco whispered, eyes wide and disbelieving, but also swimming with hope.
"Wha-of course I do! Is that what this is about? You thought I wouldn't want you?!" Harry gasped at him.
"I-I didn't think you wanted a…"
"A family? Dray, you know I do!" Harry reassured, searching Draco's eyes. Why would he think differently?
"But we're so young… You have your job…"
"Is this about me coming home late? I'll quit! I'll quit tomorrow!"
"NO! No, I just thought… I just thought you wanted to wait. I thought you would leave…" Draco ended in a whisper, his eyes refusing to meet Harry's.
"Draco. Draco, look at me."
He reluctantly did so.
"I don't care when we start a family. I would never leave you. I love you. And our baby."
Draco smiled a watery smile and crushed Harry in a tight hug.
"I'm so relieved…"
"You should have never doubted." Harry said into Draco's neck.
"I'm sorry…"
"Don't be. We're going to be fine. We've both got money. I'll shorten my hours. We're going to be fine." Harry said surely in a soft voice, now facing Draco and staring lovingly into his eyes.
Draco smiled a happy smile stretching past his eyes.
"I know babe. I know."
