"Stop it," Rose giggled, obviously not meaning a word she was saying. "We shouldn't be out here. Come on, Sorpius!"
He looked at her, full of lust, and tugged her hand. "Don't be such a coward." He knew he had her then; she'd never back away from a challenge, despite the fact that he all but mumbled it. She could see it in his eyes before she heard it in his voice, and she'd never back away from a challenge. She was, after all, a Weasley. They ran down the deserted hallway, well she ran and he staggered.
"Every teacher's going to be on alert. It's Christmas, for Merlin's sake."
"Oh, come on," he said, swaying drunkenly. "We need some time alone without being surrounded by everyone." Scorpius replied, fumbling his words as he pointed and poked her.
"Why, Scorpius Malfoy. You're drunk! " Rose pronounced, panting.
"Shush," he replied, putting his fingers to her lips to quiet her. He patted her mouth. "So soft," he managed.
"You idiot," Rose exclaimed, too loudly. She cursed inwardly, and then she was dragging him down the corridor until he literally fell into the wall. "This way," he said, dragging himself down to the floor and taking her along.
They tumbled over carpeting to land flat on their backs. Rose was up first, steady as she tried to pull Scorpius up. He remained limp on the floor; Rose would get no help from him. She let go and he flopped back down. Rose stood over him, giving him a look reminiscent of her mother.
Dammit, Rose cursed inwardly. "Up we get, Scorpius. You wanted to get pissed and now you'll pay the price." She heaved him up and he lolled on his feet, sliding into her unsteadily. "You can't stay on the floor," she told him.
"Why not?" he asked, although the two words melted into one and came out nearly indistinguishable. Rose just shook her head. They were doing a kind of dance; her supporting him as he swayed, he doing his best not to end up back on the floor. Rose maneuvered him a few steps across the room.
Scorpius slipped and threw his arms around her neck for support. Rose shivered, plopping him down on an ornate and uncomfortable couch before she sat down next to him. Scorpius leaned on the arm, his feet sticking out oddly.
"Do you think anyone will miss you?" Rose asked, wondering why when she knew he was barely capable of human speech at the moment.
Scorpius slouched. "Nah," he drawled, fidgeting. "Probably passed out drunk," he snorted.
They sat there in silence for awhile until Rose realized the drunken idiot had dragged her out of her common room just to pass out on her. They'd risked detention for nothing. She elbowed him in the ribs, hard. He struggled to swing his legs to the floor before sitting up and giving her a rather indistinct look. She wondered what he was thinking as he settled his head on her shoulder. It was rather peaceful.
"I love you, you know," Scorpius muttered.
Rose looked at him, turning her neck so sharply it hurt, to find that he was, yet again, fast asleep. She nearly wept.
