She was Riley Matthews, from Greenwich Village, New York City, The United States of America, the continent of North America, Western Hemisphere, the Earth, the solar system, the mind of God.

Yet right now, she wasn't feeling like that person at all.

It was done. This was the reason she didn't want to respond to the peer pressure. She and Lucas had tried dating but it didn't work out. Now, they were never getting back together. It's not like they were her parents.

Riley sat at her window, hoping that something good would come.

She heard a knock. She turned around, expecting it to be Maya.

Instead it was you know who. "Hi." Riley said.

"Hi." Lucas replied back. "Are you okay?"

Riley nodded.

Lucas came in and sat with her. "You know, even though things are awkward now, it doesn't mean they'll be awkward in times to come."

Riley turned around to face him. "You think so?"

Lucas nodded. "I'm sure that if we like each other, we'll be able to get together at some point."

Riley smiled. "You like me, Lucas?"

Lucas grinned back. "I've liked you ever since you fell on my lap in the subway."

"So did I."

Riley was starting to feel a little better. Maybe this relationship was going to work out; they just needed to give it time. After all, they only just started eighth grade.

"You know," Riley said, "I was kinda worried when we started dating that this wouldn't be the time, and it would jeopardize everything."

Lucas grabbed Riley's hand. "Don't worry Riley. The time comes when it comes, just like the heart wants what it wants."

Lucas could feel himself leaning in. Riley had her chance, now this was his.

Of course, not before Cory could chase Lucas away and grab his shoe.

Oh, how much Riley loved petting it.
