Emi and Sadao glared at each other furiously.

"Let me have it," Emi demanded.

"It's the last piece, I should have it! Besides, I thought you said you didn't like these," he muttered, leaning forward smugly.

Her face went red. "I don't! But still, I'm the gest and you should always let the guest have the last portion!"

"But if you don't like it, why can't I have it? Wait- why are you even here?"

Her face flushed further. "I'm here on reconnaissance!"

"You're just eating all of our food!"

"No, I'm making sure you're not up to anything evil!"

"No-"

Ashiya sighed despairingly as he walked to the refrigerator and pulled out their last cucumber. He sniffed pitifully as he grabbed a cutting board and knife and began slicing.

"Don't bring Chi-chan into this!" Emi yelled.

"Why not? She's nice to me; you could afford to be a little nicer, especially since you're always at our base."

"You call this thing a base?"

"Don't insult the New Devil's Castle!" Sadao yelled, shoving his finger in her face.

She slapped his finger away from her. "This isn't even a castle!"

Urushihara hummed under his breath. "Doesn't it seem more like the two of you are flirting rather than fighting for the last portion?" he drawled, looking at his lord and the hero through narrowed eyes.

"WE AREN'T FLIRTING!" they yelled simultaneously.

"I agree; they do seem like they're flirting. Perhaps there is a mutual attraction?" Suzuno postulated, tilting her head slightly with a small frown on her face.

"WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?" Emi and Sadao screamed, jumping back.

"You left the door open. You have very lax security."

Sadao straightened up, putting his hand on his chin, nodding gravely. "Yes," he muttered, "in order to protect our castle from unwanted intruders, we have to be more careful."

"Who are you calling unwanted?" Emi shrieked.

"Why did you think I was talking about you?"

"Just let me have it!"

"No! You don't even like it."

"They started all over," Urushihara whispered, curling up in the corner with his gaming device.

Ashiya sniffed and choked back tears as he sliced the last piece of the cucumber. They would have to save even more money to buy food for the next few weeks.
