Spending a whole summer at Camp Rock was the best thing that had ever happened to Nate Black. It was here he met the beautiful Mitchie Torres with her beautiful innocent voice, the arrogant rock star Shayne Grey with his gorgeously styled hair and the magnificently spaced out Jason and his wild daydreams. And it was here he fell in love with his best friend, Caitlin Geller, in all her musically talented glory.
Cliché, right?
At this moment in time he was sitting down by the lake with the one and only Caitlin.
They weren't doing anything in particular, just sitting there talking about anything and everything.
"Look there's a cute little bluebird" Caitlin squealed childishly as she pointed high up into the tree above them.
"I say we call it Caitlin, in memory of its finder" Nate added, a smirk on his face as he watched her gaze up in amazement.
"I don't think so" she laughed back.
"well its not much of a cute bird without a name like yours then is it?" he muttered under his breath, silently wishing she'd not heard that, unfortunately his prayers went unanswered as she turned her gaze towards him and their eyes locked.
Her dazzling blue eyes bore straight through him and he knew she'd be able to see through any lie he'd be able to thread into existence if he could turn his eyes away and get his thoughts straight.
"What?" her voice came out as a whisper, barely above hearing range.
"I…erm, I" what was he to say? He couldn't lie to her, so here was his chance to get everything off his shoulders. To just tell her he loved her and all her childish ways.
While other girls covered themselves in make-up and fake tan, he loved that she left her skin natural and pale.
He loved the way she left her untameable curly hair just lie in curls around her face. He loved the way her eyes lit up with excitement when she got a chance to show off her skills.
He loved that she had a fiery temper on her and was quick to shout at anyone who she thought was wrong whether she was right or not. He loved the fact that when he had been into her cabin it had been a complete mess but he could spot some of his things laying around like his black jacket that he'd leant her when she got cold.
He loved everything about her, good and bad.
And now was his chance to tell her.
So turning to face her, looking straight into her eyes he took a deep breathe.
"Caitlin, I love you"
Telling your best friend you love her.
Cliché, right?
