She didn't know it, but he saw her. He had been keeping an eye out for her since all night, so he saw every costume change, starting with the red dress that left him breathless. Seeing her in that was the kick in the pants he needed to actually go to the dress.
Then he saw the aftermath of an unfortunate act of carelessness. The yellow mustard created a Rorschach look against the red, and the disappointment in her eyes dimmed their sparkle. But even that was prettier than the blonde.
He didn't know where she had gotten off to, and he was starting to miss looking at her when he caught a glimpse of her through the door again, wearing a huge gown that reminded him of Cinderella, or that new Disney movie he had seen advertised that looked like it was half cartoon and half real. He had never seen anything more precious.
He didn't know why she changed again, but the mermaid outfit was ridiculous. One look at the dress, and a loud laugh exploded from his throat, and yet…
And yet, she looked just as lovely in a ridiculous mermaid get-up or covered in mustard as she did glammed up in red or dressed like a princess.
Beautiful, period. Explained why he couldn't keep his eyes off of her.
