The Orb

This poem was created from the Harry Potter song "Double Trouble."

A wizard stands over a cauldron full of water

Holding an orb above the water

As it emits fiery sparks and stars of blue, red, and gold

Looking at the water, he sees nothing but his face

But the water begins to bubble and boil and he can no longer see his reflection

When the bubbling and boiling ceases, he sees horrors past

Death, disease, and destruction

Once again the bubbling begins

And when the boiling and bubbling stops

He sees the joyous times in the future

Births, graduations, congratulations, weddings, peace, and many other things

So even though there were rough spots

The wizard knew that there would be good patches too

Every time the water would begin to boil and bubble

The orb would emit brighter sparks and stars of blue, red, and gold

But when the reflections in the water began to fade

The orb seemed to dim slightly

For this was no ordinary orb

This was an orb made from the purest silver and gold

This sphere could see the future better than any other crystal ball

And only when it was held above heated water from Avalon

Could it tell the future

But as the joys of the future began to fade

The orb faded also until it no longer emitted fiery sparks and stars

Everyone always wondered how the wizard knew what secrets the future held

And only you and I will know that this is the answer

Now good friends, this is where our paths part

It is time to say good-bye until our paths cross again

If you ever want to revisit this poem remember this saying:

"Double double

Toil and trouble

Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

Something wicked this way comes."
