DC Ella Stewart was new to the force. Fresh out of Hendon, she was thrown straight into Fenchurch East Station in London, under the watchful eye of the famously notorious and surprisingly arrogant DCI, Gene Hunt. He was famous all over London, and Ella had definitely heard of him.

Walking into the office, Ella couldn't do anything else than stare. This was nothing like she'd imagined when she'd first decided the put in for the job of a police officer, especially the dazzling lifestyle in CID. Also, once her eyes rested on that pale, dark haired, young and totally beautiful female sergeant in uniform, the new DC found she just couldn't tear her eyes away. This woman was spellbinding.

But she found she has to. She walked over to the office with 'DCI Gene Hunt' printed on the glass pane in the door. She knew what he looked like (who didn't?) but Ella had no idea who the curly haired woman was who was also inside, and looked to be arguing with her new DCI. Tentatively, the now extremely nervous DC knocked on the glass pane set in the door.

Ella wasn't quite getting the response she expected when Gene wrenched open his office door. He took one look at the now terrified constable and his face went blank. But then, the woman with curly hair spoke. Her voice rang clear like wind chimes.

'DC Ella Stewart?' she asked, the young constable's name becoming a question around this mystery woman's lips.

'Yes, Ma'am,' Ella replied, thinking it best to be polite. After all, she still had no idea who this woman was.

'I'm Alex Drake, your DI,' the woman responded, now smiling broadly as she strode towards Ella, her hand outstretched. Ella placed her small hand in Alex's and they shook in introduction. Ella felt strangely at ease with this seemingly friendly woman. Now, to try and take on Gene Hunt. Needless to say, Ella definitely was not looking forward to this.

'So, you're our new DC?' he questioned, looking Ella up and and down, never smiling.

'Yes, Guv, as you heard, Ella Stewart, pleasure to meet you,' Ella stuttered quietly, now exceptionally nervous. She'd heard of Gene Hunt's reputation, but it definitely wasn't a good one. Actually, he was frowned upon by most of London.

'Well, let's get you introduced to the rest of the team,' Alex said, placing a gentle arm around Ella's shoulder and steering her out of the door she'd entered only minutes before. Alex cleared her throat, and every head turned to look at her. And then every pair of eyes flicked to the new DC at her side, and Ella felt her cheeks turn red.

'Right everyone, this is our new DC, Ella Stewart. DC Skelton, you and Shaz are to look after her. Be nice, okay?' Alex warned, as this DC Skelton and the beautiful dark-haired sergeant began walking towards her.

The only thought that came into Ella's head was 'This should be an interesting first day.'
