I got my inspiration from a picture on deviantART; really, the picture broke my heart, but it's so wonderful. Here's the link… ?order=9&q=the+marauders&offset=288#/d10ajwy

Enjoy!

Remus's eyes grew wide when the green blast left his opponent's wand and hit him in the chest. When he again opened his eyes, he knew something was different. He looked down at his hands, or were they? They were…the same hands he had in his school days.

"Moony!" an achingly familiar voice called. Remus swung around, his old cloak swishing with his movement. Standing in front of him were James Potter and Sirius Black, his two oldest friends. But…they were dead. And he was quite sure he hadn't dreamt the last few years of his life. He was thirty-six, not seventeen. And James had been twenty-one, and Sirius had been thirty-four when they died, again, not seventeen!

The two boys rushed up to meet him, gripping him tightly in a huge hug. When they pulled back, Sirius's hand stayed on his shoulder, and their eyes became somber. "Mr. Padfoot and Mr. Prongs would like to welcome Mr. Moony home," James said.

Home…Remus looked around. They were in their old dormitory, only there were three beds, not four. It was still the same mess of clothes on the floor, and all of his old books he'd had in school were stacked next to his bed. He frowned slightly. When he turned back to them, everything became clear. He was home. That could only mean that he was dead. Remus stared at them a moment, mouth slightly open, and Sirius nodded. "You'll see Tonks again," he assured him.

Tonks! Of course, and Teddy, oh god. He didn't want to think about that. Turns out, he didn't have to. James pulled out the invisibility cloak and Marauders' Map, and they were up to all their old tricks sooner than Remus could imagine. Only this time, Peter wasn't there.

And Tonks was, standing next to Remus as Lily stood next to James. Remus saw all of his oldest school friends, and to his shock, Severus Snape was there, as well. And that was good enough for him. It was time to make amends with Severus, anyway. They did, and got along a lot better than they did in their school years. They had all of Hogwarts to themselves, based on the scenery they chose. The Marauders didn't ever change, Remus thought as Sirius slipped a dung bomb into James's drink.
