It was dark, nothing but the sounds of their heavy breathing and heartbeat could be heard, and the only thing that they could feel was the bitter cold that surrounded them. Run! There's not much time! He's coming! They ran as fast as their legs could carry them, their feet had long gone numb from the rocks cutting into them. Almost there! Just a little longer! A loud roar split the silence and they tripped on something, falling face first into the hard, cold ground. Blood started to fall from their nose as they stood up and continued to run. No… it can't be too late! They have to live! Another roar and a loud boom echoed throughout the dark place they were in. They grunted and ran faster as crimson blood trailed them. Need to go faster! I have to save them!

They saw a bright light; blinded, they stumbled for a second but continued, limping slightly from a large cut on their leg they had gotten just hours ago. They reached the end of the dark abyss they were in to a sight one could only describe as hell. The light shined on the person; revealing them to be a woman around her mid twenties with tears streaming down her blood and dirt covered face, as they walked out of the long dark into the hellish sene and looked upon it in horror. What looked like the remnants of tall skyscrapers, turned to nothing but dust. Dead bodies littered the ground and fire consumed almost everything. I was too late…The woman heard another loud roar and turned her head to see where or what it came from, an action she would soon regret.

Two huge creatures, larger than what seemed physically possible, stood in a large crater facing each other. They were both covered head to toe in scratches, bites, burns, any kind of wound you could think of they had it. One of the monsters arm was at a strange angle, clearly broken, but it just slowly moved into its correct place as all of the monsters wounds healed in a matter of seconds.

The monsters roared and charged at each other; when they collided a shockwave shook the ground. Any glass left intact was shattered and the woman's ears rang. The monsters locked arms and growled as each of them tried to push the other one back. A body of rock and molten lava named Obsidius stood farthest from the woman and roared, lava poured out of it and burned the other monster, making it let go.

But it was the one closest to her that she was watching. Charcoal gray scales placed on a monster that many have seen but few live to tell about. Lighting crashed in the sky above and struck the dorsal fins that ran along its back, its long tail swayed behind it, and the wind it created destroyed everything in its path. It let out a roar that split the very sky, a monster similar to this one stuck japan in 1954 and they called it Gojira the King of the Monsters, and the world was never the same. But that monster was long dead, not to say the throne was empty, this one was the third of its kind and the new king of the monsters, Godzilla.

The monsters continued to fight but the woman's attention was diverted from the monsters when she heard a faint cry. Quickly she ran to the noise, adrenaline rushing through her as she prayed that whoever she was looking for was safe. She stopped at a pile of rubble and quickly started digging, the cry getting louder. She reached an open space inside the rubble, grabbed a stick and lit it to make a torch. She crawled into the space and gasped when she saw a small baby wrapped in a blanket, somehow seemingly unscathed. She paced the torch into a makeshift holder so the space would be lit. She picked up the baby and rocked it in her arms, whispering to it softly.

"Its ok, your safe now." She looked around the now lit space for any confirmation on who the child was and noticed photo of a famous japanese artwork of a wave. The woman held the baby closer "Minami… beautiful wave… that will be your name and you will never know the fear and pain of monsters. I promise you" The woman noticed a birthmark on the Minami's shoulder that looked like a scale but before she question it a loud boom was heard outside and the ground shook. Minami started to cry and the woman rocked the child in her arms until it calmed down.

The woman stepped outside and gasped at what the monsters had done. She looked around as she walked, hoping that the monsters had been stopped. Minami was sound asleep as she walked past the crater that the monsters had created, and she let out a sigh of relief when she didn't see any monsters. Those things are gone now, we're safe. The woman looked up at the sky and saw lights in the distance, most likely helicopters looking for survivors. Looking out at the destruction around her, it was hard to believe there was any. She sat down and waited for them to come and looked down at Minami, hope in her eyes. But all hopes were crushed when she heard a low growl behind her. She gasped and looked behind her to see red-yellow eyes staring back at her. No...it can't be…

The leviantine stood in the crater and stared back at her, its long tail swaying behind it as smoke rose from healing wounds. The creature roared a sound that all of humanity feared and the woman screamed. It's him… the king of the monsters...Godzilla... She tried to run but she cried out when an old wound opened, she looked back at the king and closed her eyes, waiting for a fiery death to come. But no pain came, only silence and the sound of a baby's laughter. Wha-!?

The woman opened her eyes to see Minami looking at Godzilla giggling and reaching for him. Godzilla huffed and let out a soft growl and the woman held back a scream as the king walked closer and Minami touched his nose. The woman was frozen in fear as Godzilla looked her in the eyes and blinked slowly. Minami pet Godzilla's nose and a low rumbling noise was heard that almost sounded like a purr. What is happening!? The woman looked down at Minami and she saw the child's eyes were just like the kings and she let out a sharp inhale, Godzilla huffed again and it felt like something just hit the woman in the head and all she could think of was one word

"Child…" She breathed. Minami giggled and the king seemed to nod just a tiny bit. She looked up at Godzilla and she understood. As the king returned to the sea and the choppers came closer the woman was filled with hope again as she looked into Minami's strange eyes and smiled. "We're safe little one… the monsters are gone, forever"
