"Gear up. We got a dead petty officer," yelled Gibbs as he made his way into the bullpen. Everyone started to grab their gear, but McGee was just standing there with a confused look on his face. "Are you waiting for an invitation, McGee? "
"No boss, just a question."
"We don't have all day, McGee."
"I know that, it's just….never mind."
Gibbs sighed and rolled his eyes. If you are going to say something you need to say it, not stop in the middle of you sentence. He should make that a rule. Always complete your sentence. It's typical fourth-grade grammar; even Ziva, who didn't speak English natively, knew to complete her thought. "Just say it ,McGee, we're all waiting on you now."
"Err..Sorry, boss."
"What do I say about
apologizing?"
"Sorry." Gibbs glares at him. He just never
learned, did he?
"Umm…right. Well, have you ever noticed how many times we get dead petty officers? I mean there's a corporal once or twice, but haven't you ever noticed how often we get trouble from petty officers? It just seems weird that they are the only ones in the Navy dying." That got both Tony and Ziva looking at him for they too had noticed how many times they got petty officers, so they joined McGee in looking at Gibbs for an explanation.
Gibbs sighed again. What's with his people saying stupid things this morning? He was one of three people that knew the answer to that question, and he wasn't about to give it up. It had been a tradition in leaders to tell their successor the answer, so he decided to lie.
"Coincidence?"
Author's note: the reason it's funny that Gibbs said coincidence is that he is the one who is always saying "We don't believe in coincidences." For him to say that he would be contradicting himself, thus proving he's lying, and will not give up the answer.
