Haunted

Katniss never really got out of that arena. A piece of her, her soul, was still stuck there, floating above all the places where a tribute had passed away. Most of the time she was at the Cornocopia and though she didn't like to admit it, she was there for him. And in addition for her too.

He caught her eye from the reaping. He was the monstrous boy from 2 who volunteered to enter the games and kill 23 innocent children. She learned a lot about him those days in the Capitol. He was strong, skilled with both a sword and speer, determined to win and he had a temper. The boy from 6 ,who Cato accused of stealing his knife, knew all about it. To her Cato was a bloodthirsty monster. To the capitol he was the perfect career: strong, vicious and ready to go.

He did the Capitol and his district proud the first days in the arena. He killed without hesitation and together with his allies he gave the capitola great show slaughtering innocent ones. Though she still had a good chance, Katniss knew he was probably going to win. Who could defeat bloody, brutal Cato? Who could defeat someone without emotions, humanity, without any weaknesses? Or so she taught… because when she was dying he held her in his arms, begging her to stay with him.

Katniss didn't know anything about Clove except that she was a ruthless career from district 2 and that she never missed. Katniss knew even less about Cato and Clove. They were district partners, sure, but were they also friends? Was that the reason he tried to save her? Or was there more to it? Could they possibly have been more than just friends? Were they the real star-crossed lovers of the 74th annual Hunger Games?

Katniss didn't know but she knew that Clove must've meant a lot to the bloodthirsty boy because it was her dying that made him show emotion. It made him show a weakness. It made him show humanity. Something that she taught he had never possesed.
