Ludwig sighed as he set his things down. School had been taxing as always but this day was even more stressful than usual. He had three tests in a row. And as the head of the Journalism club, he had to provide activities for the day. As he was going to report the status of his club to the student council, Francis, the vice-president, dropped all the work on him all because he was "dependable" and ran off with a girl who was waiting by the doorway. So he had to do all the paperwork for both his club and for the student council. Ludwig wasn't even part of the student council! And on top of that, Feliciano, his friend, kept pestering him with senseless questions, most of them referring to art. It almost felt like a full-time job. Luckily, he was home; the one place where he could relax.
Not bothering to chance, Ludwig opened a can of dog food, thinking that his dogs must be starving after a whole day without him despite knowing that he left enough food and water for them. He could hear multiple barking sounds grow nearer so he prepared himself for an attack. And sure enough, his three large dogs tackled him followed by a smaller one, tongues slobbering over his uniform.
"Did you all miss me that much?" He cooed as he pet the tiny white-haired dog. It happily yapped at him, a sign of approval.
Ludwig then turned to the wet dog food that was now being devoured by the larger chocolate-haired dog. He chuckled and looked around until he found the two other dogs, one golden and the other gray, battling for the leashes. He shook his head fondly and opened his palm. The dogs calmed down and placed the leash on his hand, sitting close to him.
"Why don't we go for a walk?" He asked. Happy barks and resounded in the room, making him smile.
One would say that caring for two dogs is trouble but four is just too much. Ludwig wouldn't agree. These dogs have been with him all his life and he has taken good care of them. And his dogs have taken good care of him in turn. These dogs have been with him through thick and thin. Whenever he's been bullied they'd protect him. Whenever he's been sad and lonely, they'd make him smile. They're so much more than just his dogs now. They're family.
