It's hard to tell when my Spike & Dawn drabbles are set but like 9/10 unless stated otherwise they're probably in the gap between Season 5 and Season 6 when Buffy is dead. (Obviously these characters do not belong to me)

BIRTH

"Did it hurt?" Dawn had asked suddenly, Spike had raised an eyebrow, the question had come out of nowhere and Spike had no idea what she meant. She laughed a little at the stupidity of asking a question that no-one could answer but then she leant back on her heels and whispered, "When she bit you, did it hurt?" she asked, her eyes running over the skin over Spike's neck, looking for the two tiny scars Drusilla had left when she had turned him. Spike watched her for a minute, "A vampire bite is kind of like a drug, it doesn't hurt if you want it." he explained after a moment, "Besides, the pain was the last thing on my mind when a beautiful woman asked if I wanted to be by her side for eternity, being re-born for that purpose was what I wanted." After another silent moment, he shook his head, "Don't think about it yeah 'bit? Because no-one's biting you any time soon."

ENTHUSIASM

Sometimes when Dawn got happy, she bounced on her toes and her hands shook she was so excited. She would grin and she would absolutely not shut up even if Spike wanted her to. If anyone else got that... hyper around Spike, he probably would've killed them, but whenever the girl did it herself, Spike just smiled and sat down, listening to her. He wasn't sure what it was, but there was something so... Dawn about what she said during those moments where she felt like she might never be sad again, and those moments were a pleasure to witness. Not that Spike would ever admit that of course.

LOVE

There must've been something about the Summers' girls... when Joyce had died, Spike had secretly cried. When Buffy had died... Spike had openly sobbed. If Dawn died, he had no idea what he would do, it would without a doubt be his own fault, Buffy had left him to protect Dawn and that's exactly what he was doing, she barely had a moment alone, even his sleeping schedule adjusted for her. He watched the brown haired girl as she sulked, writing the answer to math problems in her book, she hated math. Yes. There must've been something about the Summers' girls, that made him love them. He didn't think he could bare to lose another.

HATE

There were a lot of things that Dawn hated, Spike used to be on the list. She used to hate him, which made sense, wasn't he evil? Only now she looked up from where she was sat, curled up on his lap, he was asleep and as she watched him, she had no idea how he could ever do anything evil. No idea how she had hated him. He let a breath out in his sleep, she wasn't sure if that was normal for a vampire, or if he was just a little more human than anyone thought, but the breath made her smile. Dawn wasn't sure when Spike had stopped being on the list of things she hated, but she was glad he wasn't there anymore. She didn't know what she would do without him.

TRIUMPH

Dawn knew she hadn't really won the game. She knew that Spike was stronger than her, and she knew that there was absolutely no way in hell she could have won an arm wrestle with him if he hadn't let her, but she cheered in triumph anyway. She smirked a little. He just smiled. They both knew that the game had been fixed, but neither of them would say anything. Dawn wanting to believe she had won and Spike wanting to see her happy. "Round two?" Spike asked, holding his other arm out, Dawn slipped her hand into his, she wondered if he would let her win again, probably not.
