Feeling the chilly night wind rush through my thick brown hair. I smiled pushing myself to run faster. Looking to my left I see that my partner is running at my side, his fiery red hair standing out against the cool green of the pine forest we ran through. Weaving between the trunks, our nighttime dance begun to show. My eyes narrowed as I breathed in sharply, the air tingling inside of my racing lungs. The only sound that came to my sensitive ears was that of our feet pounding against the hard ground, snapping fallen twigs here or there.
I stopped as we came upon an open field. Looking over it I noticed how the white Arctic moon was full and the field of wildflowers was scattered with lighting bugs. It looked as if the stars had fallen, littering the earth in a glowing paradise. Soon id have to return to my pack. There I would mot be able to see my companion anymore.
A call from my unknown friend brought me back from my thoughts. Looking down the sloping hill I saw him smile playfully, his tail wagging back and forth. He yelped agian, running in a circle like a playfull child.
Replying with a short, high-pitched howl I ran after, chasing him through the tall grass, smiling to myself. I had never felt this feeling before. Nobody was telling me what to do or how to do it. This feeling of carelessness; of freedom.
