A young boy, clad in bronze armor that contained several straps and buckles, donning a white mask with blue swirls around the forehead and the left part of of his chin, and a sword, glowing with many runic markings in the blade, strapped to his back was alone in a dimly lit chamber. He was extremely nervous as his bronze eyes flickered around the room wondering why he was summoned to the Chamber of The Almighty One. He was told that it was for a new assignment that he would be partaking in, but he felt like there was more to it than that. Normally when assignments are handed out they are done so through the Yggdrasil system, delegated by a group of high ranking administrative angels. So many questions lingered in his mind, yet he knew one thing with absolute certainty: this would not be an ordinary mission.

After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, He felt a presence enter the room, and with it the beads of sweat that were trickling down his face became more numerous. Choosing his words carefully, he spoke trying to mask his unease. "Almighty One... thank you for gracing me with your presence, It is an honor to know you have selected me to carry out your whim." He looked up at the figure and took off his mask out of respect revealing a youthful face with a stern expression. His skin was on the tanner side, and his hair was long; so long that it was bound in a ponytail which draped off his shoulder.

"Archangel Kyyteo, please stand let us discuss your next mission." Nodding, the archangel rose to his feet, and the Ethereal wings on his back raised to stretch from sitting in that place for a while. He strapped his mask to his belt and walked towards The Almighty. "You have been the useful servant over the several hundred years you have served me." Kyyteo was really flustered to hear such high praise coming from the one he has looked up to his entire life, and he bowed awkwardly stammering "T-thank you. It is an honor to do your bidding."

The creator laughed softly at this gesture, and continued to speak "Your skills since your first day have grown exponentially... which is why I feel comfortable assigning you this mission." Looking up sharply, the Archangel's wings flapped in excitement and anticipation he could not hope to hide, complete with a wide grin forming on his lips. "What kind of mission is it My Lord?"

Only after a few moments of silence did he answer. "You are familiar with the Angel Belldandy are you not?" Upon hearing this, Kyyteo's grin slowly faded, and he began to gnaw on his lip softly, not liking the direction this was heading but nodded anyway "I am." And all he could think at that moment, knowing his adoptive sister the way he did, was: What did she get herself into this time?

With the details of the mission weighing heavily on his mind, he made his way down a stone path to the Archangel's barracks. It was nighttime in heaven, and most were sleeping, save Wayland the Smith who kept his forge running throughout the night, he entered the place he called home, which was a huge stone ring which contained many doors, each being an archangel's quarters. There was 500 doors in total, and with each floor that went up, they became progressively more ornate. The highest class of archangel lived at the top of ring, while the recruits and lower class lived on the bottom. Kyyteo walked over to a door on the bottom level, then turned around and pressed his wings against the door. He closed his eyes at that point and channeled a bit of his energy through his body until he heard a soft click, and then he opened the door to his room.

It was by no means a bad place to live, in fact he preferred how simple it was. The room came equipped with bed, bath, and a kitchen. The walls had a few pictures hanging from them, but otherwise were barren. He set his sword onto the table and sat down in a matching oaken chair sighing softly. He glanced at a photo sitting ontop of the table, and then reached over to grab it. It was a picture of himself with his two sisters about 2,000 years in the past. He smiled and thought back to a simpler time, where they were still young.

2,000 years ago...

A day as clear as it was, with not even a single cloud in the sky, lightning should not make an appearance. However with an adoptive sister such as Uurd, lightning was a commonplace, especially if you've upset her in some way. "C...come on Uurd." Kyyteo said softly with his hands in front of him, laughing softly. "Can't you take a joke?" Stamping her foot down, the little goddess grinned maliciously at him as electricity crackled through her hair.
"A joke huh? Tell me more about how you jokingly drew an eggplant on my mirror?" He chuckled nervously and said "B-because... eggplants are YIIII!" Cutting him off mid sentence, Uurd fired a bolt of lightning at him, which only grazed him yet still left his hair standing on end. "I-I-I'll buy you some shaved ice... please just don't kill me!"

Upon hearing the mention of shaved Ice, Uurd's lighting vanished and she walked up to him grabbing him by his collar "It had better be watermelon flavored!" He nodded in fear and stammered "s-sure! whatever you'd like sis!" Belldandy who had been watching said excitedly "oooh! Can I have some too?" A wave of sadness crashed over him as he realized his pocketbook was going to become significantly lighter after this. "Awww man..." He said softly,

Present day

He smiled and set the picture down "No matter what... its still going to be nice to see them all... and Skuld should be getting pretty big too." He stood up and started to prepare for his journey. Packing rations and supplies, standard for whenever he left heaven, and then strapped his sword on his back. He took the mask from his belt and then put it over his head and nodded, ready to leave.

He approached the gates of Heaven, which were easily as tall as the empire state building, and had a luminescent aura surrounding it, half expecting to explain to the young Valkyries where he was going, but upon his arrival, they just moved their axes aside and let him through. He sighed at himself realizing that word was probably sent to let him two Valkyries guarding the gates were familiar him. He smiled at Sarah, and Lind, and approached the two with his hands behind his head, taking off his mask and letting it rest on the side of his face.
"Hey Lind it's been a long time how have you been?" Without facing him she said "Alright." He stood there for a few seconds before trying again. "So... what you doing?" Again, she responded without looking, "Guard duty. Don't you have somewhere you should be departing to?" He sighed at the feeble attempts for conversation. Sarah giggled and tugged on Kevin's shoulder. "She hasn't changed much has she?" He shrugged and said "Nope but neither have you." She stuck out her tongue and the gates opened.

Lind opened up a holographic console and began typing and talking at the same time. "Now logging and approving the departure of Archangel Kyyteo. Destination: planet earth, Japan. You are hereby cleared for departure." The massive gates opened slowly and with a loud metallic creak. He grinned, not getting the chance to do this very often, and stood at the edge and looked down. It was a straight drop and he could not see the bottom, looking back at the two one more time, he gave them a thumbs up and put his mask back on. The wings on hi back spread wide to both sides, and he let himself fall off the edge.

I reread my first chapter of this fic and literally said to myself "Oh god that's awful! Did I really use to write like that?" And so I decided I wasn't going to have any of it and revised the chapter to a more acceptable standard. I'll probably do this for every chapter and maybe release a few new ones while I decide what to do. So until then everyone. :)
