A/N: Hey everyone! RaNYo here, and with a Pokemon fic this time around. It's short, but I like it. XD
I recently celebrated my birthday, and had a lot of good things happen lately, so I'm very cheery~!
I've been obsessing over the upcoming releases for HeartGold and SoulSilver like almost everyone else - I mean, it has my favorite starter of all time! Yeah, Totodile. And the new graphics and such to bring more life into the Johto region more than ever before is a plus. Also, Silver. *sighs dreamily*
Anywho, here's the fic.

Disclaimer: If I owned Pokemon, you'd probably see more of what the fans like. XD

Excitedly, the girl stared at the three Pokeballs presented – she got first pick of the bunch, which was great because she didn't want the leftovers. Not that any of the Pokemon here would be considered as such, but she'd rather have the full variety of choice in the matter.
Her hand was outstretched, constantly hovering over each ball in turn. There was a Chikorita, the grass starter. A sweet little creature, but she didn't have much enthusiasm for it. Next was Cyndaquil, the fire starter. When she had first seen a picture of the creature, she'd squealed at its cute, squinted eyes and little body (but then again, that was a few years ago).
Then her brown eyes stared deeply at the last ball. Inside was Totodile, the water type Pokemon. It seemed like an interesting choice – she had thought deeply over the past weeks, anticipating the time that she would finally be able to travel on her own, with partners to call her own, on a journey that would be hers and hers alone.
Not only did she like water types the best, but it was also… adorable, in its own right, albeit a tad odd. With large jaws that were powerful, and a usually cheerful disposition, this one had appeared to her to be the right choice. It was like her, in some ways.
Grinning giddily, she grabbed the ball from its nook in the machine, and brought out the occupant in a flash of light.

One moment, Totodile was resting. The next, it was brought out to a bright, bright place, in which its large pupils dilated after being in the darkness of sleep, though it was on the alert as soon as it felt the summoning.
Blinking the glaring light away, it wildly looked around the lab, curious. The floor was odd-looking, set in odd patterns everywhere, yet pleasantly cool to its warm skin, much like how the rest of the blue lizard would like to feel in a nice pool, or even a creek. There was no sun here, at least not the REAL sun, as the rays from these imposters did not make its scales heat up as it usually would.
There were few two-legged creatures, walking around, standing, sitting. Wide jaws opened up with an unexpected yawn, and it was startled as it heard the giggling sound come from behind it.
With a quick turn, the Totodile knew who this person was – knew that this Trainer with warm, brown eyes had come for it, to take it away to places away from here. Where there was water, trees, grass, other Kin. They were partners now, so it seemed as a bedraggled two-leg was saying to Her.
And the young lizard gave a reptilian grin as it looked up with crimson eyes, and saw the most beautiful thing it had ever seen in its young life span, and made a promise to keep in mind.
The chew toy atop the Trainer's head would be its own - soon enough.
