There is a wrestling match in Ilo, it's a village where matches are held for boys in the age of 15 and 16. Nwoye starts to please his father, and because of this sudden change Okonkwo doesn't nag his son. He lets the boys stay in his obi, while he tells them violent turns out that Ikemefuna is to be killed and Okonkwo was the one that struck the final blow because he didn't like to see a sign of weakness. How does it say -And, indeed, Ikemfuna called him father. -He pressed the trigger and there was a loud report accompanied by the wail of his wives and children. They usually stay if they do not die before the age of six." -"My father, they have killed me!" as he ran towards him. Dazed with fear, Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. What does it mean The first quote meant that Ikemefuna got along with Okonkwo and they got close to eachother, they called each other father and son. Okonkwo shot at his wife in anger on the second quote, he showed that to be a warning to not anger him by making a foolish coment that is unnecasary. The third quote is when Enzime's mom was talking to the priestess, she's saying it's good that she survived at age ten, because normally they die before 6 years old. The fourth quote mentioned that Ikemefuna was calling out to his father after he was struck once, Okonkwo stole the final blow, killing him from that mere hit. The final quote was about Nwyoe being scared of his father, he tries to spend as little time with him as posibble from knowing what happened to Ikemifuna.

What does it matter It matters in real life, showing you that facing your weakness you can make such harsh decisions, that you don't even think what the concequince of your action may be. It proves a great lesson and fact, miracles may happen or it's just coincedance it happened. Sometimes being furious at someone may do an act to scare the person, I don't recall ever reading or seeing a man point a gun at his wife, shooting at her, but missing her. I heard that they will kill their wife, not spare her. Since Okonkwo spared her life, it shows he just wants to teach her a lesson, learning lessons in life will make you stronger and show you how to act.
