A/N: This is my first Star Wars fan fiction and it is set after the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Crisis on Naboo." Prior knowledge of the episode is necessary but I have included a brief summary.
*Spoilers*
The Jedi Council learn of a Separatist plot to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine during the Festival of Lights on Naboo. It is Obi-Wan's mission to go undercover as a criminal Rako Hardeen to learn about the plot. To do so he fakes his death. This deeply troubles Anakin.
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Wars which belongs to George Lucas. This story, however, is mine.
Slowly he allows himself to submerge into the peace of the force. He lets the calmness wash away the nightmares of the Clone War raging across the galaxy. Never before had he felt so unsure of the possibility of the Republic wining its battle against the Separatists. So, he released his feelings into the open embrace of the force. All his doubts, worries and feelings of betrayal, after finding out that Obi-Wan had decided to leave him in the dark about his mission as Rako Hardeen.
While on Naboo he pushed the unwanted feelings into the place where he bottled up feelings that he was not ready to think about. He did not want to spoil the all too short night he had with Padmé. Even so, she had noticed and when she asked he dismissed his quietness as tiredness. He knew that his wife was not convinced but she did not push, he would tell her when he was ready. He would do so, in the not too distant future, if Padmé returned to Coruscant while he was on leave. However, this was highly unlikely.
He had never thought that he would have to suffer a great loss, even though in the end Obi-Wan didn't die, so soon after his mother's death. Her death still hurt too much to think about. He would never have believed that his closest friend would allow him to feel such pain, now that he knew it could have very easily been avoided. If only Obi-Wan had trusted him! Was Obi-Wan's trust in him as weak as the Jedi Council's? Or did he simply not care?
Pulling away from the force's comfortable embrace, he silently scolded himself. He should not doubt that his mentor cared for him. He had proven many times in the past that he did, but only as a friend. He would never love he like a son or brother. That much the Chosen One was sure. Attachment was forbidden for a Jedi.
Thanks for reading!
