I don't even know what happened here, another Vlerin one-shot out of the blue. It's a bit short and probably not very good, but I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Young Dracula. If I did, I'd probably hide the Usborne duck somewhere in every episode just for giggles. Actually, I'd do that even if I was just in charge of props. I'm a strange child.

Erin sighed, head resting on Vlad's shoulder as they sat, side by side, and stared up at the stars.
"I wish this could last forever. Us, I mean." The Chosen One shot her a sideways look, but she seemed more wistful than anything, and he decided it was probably safe to answer honestly.
"So do I. It probably can't, though." His voice was soft, resigned, as he turned his face back towards the sky.

Several long moments passed before Erin spoke again.
"Would you bite me, so we could stay together?" Vlad hesitated, doubt evident in the slight wavering tone to his reply.
"Probably not. Would you want me to?" He thought he knew the answer to that, and she didn't surprise him as she shook her head slowly.
"I'm sorry, it's nothing personal, I just don't want to change. Like Ryan did." Vlad reached for her hand and squeezed it.
"I told you before, I don't want you to become one of us."

Another silence passed as they gazed upwards, Erin trying to remember if those three stars were Orion's belt or part of the Big Dipper and Vlad searching for the last pinprick of light he'd need to connect up to form a perfect Batman symbol.
"So I guess we don't have forever." Erin sat up slowly, turning to look him in the eyes.
"I guess not. But we've got now." He smiled, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her closer against his side.
"Better make the most of it, then."
