Darkwing's New Partner
Ch.1: The Pact
It was a rainy night in St. Canard. Darkwing arrived at the destination spot; the roof of an abandoned factory. From the roof Darkwing stared ominously at the city's skyline.
"How can I keep moving on, after what happened to Launchpad…." Darkwing murmured to himself. It has only been two weeks since the accident, a week since he left. Darkwing sighed "I don't think I can help this person, maybe I should call it a night." Darkwing was about to turn around to leave when he heard a voice.
"Will you at least give me a minute to explain myself?" Darkwing client finally arrived. Darkwing glanced behind him to see a cloaked figure, and turned around to face the stranger. "I don't normally take work from someone I don't know" said Darkwing. The figure laughed, it was a woman's voice. The figure moved closer to Darkwing, but Darkwing pulled out his gas gun and screamed "Suck gas, evil doer!" Darkwing shot at the figure but she flew over it. Hovering over Darkwing she said "You protect the citizens of St. Canard right? Well I want to volunteer my assistance." Darkwing scoffed "You help me? Please! I can handle this city by myself. I don't need help from a…flying…cloaked…thingy!" The cloaked figure landed in front of Darkwing "You really think you can handle the emergencies without Launchpad?" Darkwing was stunned. "How do you know about—" The mystery client circled Darkwing "Like I wanted to explain to you, I want to offer my assistance to you, because currently you have a vacancy." Darkwing screamed at her 'What do you know about what happened to him?" She signed and shook her head at Darkwing "Let's just say that I was somewhat responsible for what happened to your EX- Partner. I'm only offering because I have a guilty conscience. Besides you're going to need my help taking on the SIXTH member of the Fearsome Six, you can't beat him. I have seen you fail so many times, he only lets you live out of amusement." The client started walking away from Darkwing. "You see…" the client forms a ball of yellow light from her hand. "I can say for sure that I can beat him but I won't intervene unless you want me too." She retracted the ball of light. "Do we have a deal?" She offers her hand to Darkwing.
Darkwing starts backing away from her and turn his back to her. "So you want to help me break up the Fearsome Six, or just this sixth member? Second, you only want to help me because somehow you were involved in Launchpad's accident and you feel bad? Now you just expect me to trust you when you haven't even given me a name or a face!"
Darkwing turned around to face the client. "Well…" he said. The client faced the ground for a few minutes when the St. Canard clock tower rung. It rang twelve strokes, midnight. "Midnight…."she whispered. "My name is Midnight." "Oh come on!" said Darkwing. "You just made up that name!" Midnight laughed. "I've been trying to come up with a name for a few days now, and it finally came to me. Midnight…I like it." She started walking away from Darkwing. She turned to face him. "So do we have a deal?' she asked. Darkwing looked skeptical at her. "Are you sure you want to help me, I mean you barely even know me!" Midnight was taking up flight, as she was slowly levitating she said "Why do you think I'm not showing my face to you, we already know each other, you just don't know it yet!" Midnight shot up like a bullet and flew away.
It took Darkwing a few minutes to recover himself. "Well it looks like I'm not leaving anytime soon! I can't wait to face the Fearsome Six again, I can only hope she's good for her word, I would like to see her in action. Darkwing turned around and left the rooftop, with a pact sealed.
