Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Toby the Tram Engine" from Season 1, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
Toby is a tram engine. He has cowcatchers and side-plates, and doesn't look like a stream engine at all. He takes freight cars from farms and villages to the main line, and is friendly to everyone he meets.
He also has a coach named Henrietta, who is in very bad shape.
"It's not fair!" she grumbles. "I am in despite need of a refit!"
As the farms and factories use trucks to deliver their goods, Toby's work has been greatly reduced.
But Toby is always careful not to have any accidents, as he hasn't had an accident for years.
One day, Toby pulled into the station. Waiting at the platform was a stout gentleman, his wife, a boy, and a girl. The stout gentleman was Sir Topham Hatt, who was on holiday with his wife, and his two grandchildren Stephen and Bridget, but Toby didn't know this.
"Come along Grandfather!" said the children. "Do look at this nice engine."
"That's a tram engine kids." said Sir Topham Hatt.
"But trams are electric, aren't they?" asked Bridget.
"NO!" snapped Toby crossly.
"Look!" said Stephen. "You offended him."
"Tram's are sometimes electric, but this is a stream tram."
"May we take a ride in it please Grandfather?" asked the children.
"Of course we can." said Sir Topham Hatt.
They boarded Henrietta, and Toby puffed away, still feeling cross of being called electric.
After the ride, Sir Topham Hatt turned to Toby.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Toby, sir."
"Thank you Toby for a very pleasant ride."
"Thank you sir." replied Toby. He felt better now.
The stout gentleman and the children rode Toby everyday for two weeks, sometimes riding with the conductor, and sometimes in Henrietta.
On the last day of the holiday, the driver invited them into Toby's cab.
It was sad, when it was time to go, but Sir Topham Hatt and his family thanked Toby for a wonderful holiday experience.
"Come back soon!" replied Toby.
"We will, we will!" said the children, and they waved and waved until Toby was out of sight.
Months passed and Toby had less work than ever before.
Soon, it was decided that Toby would be scrapped.
On his last day, everyone came out to say farewell to Toby, and have one last chance to ride in Henrietta.
When the day was done, the passengers thanked Toby for his service over the years. They were sad he was being scrapped.
That night, the doors in Toby's shed shut one last time. Tomorrow, Toby would be offically scrapped.
But the next morning, exciting news came! Toby was surprised to see his driver waving a letter.
"The stout gentleman has wrote us a letter!" exclaimed the driver.
Toby listened to the letter, but if I tell you what it said, I will spoil the next story.
