Audrey shifted slightly in the she shared with Nathan so she was facing him. She smiled when he snored softly and the snorted.
"That's cute." She thought before she deviously added "Something I can use as blackmail."
Nathan smiled as he slumbered, he spooned further into her side and sighed contently.
It was Christmas day and also Audrey and Nathan's first anniversary. It was a year to the date and time that Nathan saved her from her boyfriend Erik, declared his feelings for her and kissed her.
She carefully climbed out of bed and walked to their balcony before she took a seat on the lounger that faced the horizon she stole a quick glance at Nathan.
As she slipped into her own thoughts she did not hear Nathan call for her as he woke and looked over at her side of the bed. When she needed to think she always came and sat on the small balcony, it was something she had always done apart from at her old orphanage, while she was there she would sit on the fire escape for hours at a time just to make sense of what ever had her mind muddled.
She jumped as she felt someone hug her from behind.
"Sorry didn't mean to make you jump." Nathan said as he placed a light kiss on the top of her head.
"It's fine." She giggled "I was in a world of my own."
"What do you want for breakfast? I'm cooking."
"Ohh." She replied "Some waffles soaked in syrup would be nice."
"Ok waffles it is."
Nathan disappeared back into the house, leaving her to think.
"Audrey, your waffles are getting cold." He called.
She walked back into the house and grabbed her plate form Nathan "Thank you baby."
When they had both finished and the plates had been washed they walked into the living room. They sat down on the sofa and Audrey scooted closer to Nathan as she wrapped her arms around his torso.
"Present time." Nathan said as he grabbed a present from the pile. "To Nathan. Love Audrey."
He ripped the paper off and studied the present "Tickets to Italy. Thank you sweetie. I've always wanted to go there. Your go."
Nathan handed her a small present. She carefully tore the paper off and gasped. "Nathan it's gorgeous."
She kissed him on the lips before she gave him another present.
Nathan handed her ,her last present and she handed Nathan his. They both tore the paper off of the presents and gasped before looking at each other. Nathan pulled his present out of the box it had carefully been placed in and stared at it before his face broke into the biggest grin Audrey had ever seen.
"Oh my god really?"
Audrey nodded, as tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
Nathan took the ring from the small box and crouched down in front of her "Will you Audrey Prudence Parker, do me the honour of becoming my wife and making me the happiest and luckiest guy that ever lived?"
Audrey nodded as large tears rolled down her face. For once in her life she felt loved.
"You're not angry are you?" She said softly as she pointed to the teddy in Nathan's hands.
"Angry? Audrey, you've made me the happiest guy in the world." He said as he placed a hand on her stomach and sat the teddy beside him "You've made me a daddy and that is by far the best Christmas present I have ever had."
Audrey giggled loudly as he picked her up and spun in circles "I'm gonna be a daddy."
"Nathan, put me down." She giggled again "Stop I'm gonna be sick."
He placed her feet on the floor and kissed her. Before picking up the teddy she had given him that proudly displayed it's message:
When I grow up I'm going to be brave like my daddy.
