Author's Note: I had wanted to do a songfic ever since I read Chin Chilla's "Chamber of Secrets Rhapsody" (It was about time someone combined Queen and Harry Potter), only I couldn't think of the right song to do it to. Then it hit me as I was thinking of it today: Candle in the Wind!!!!! (Which, by the way, is one of the hardest songs to rewrite words to, and I know have a whole new respect for Sir Elton.) Anyway, in case you can't tell, it's from Harry's POV singing about his mom.

Goodbye Mother Dear

Though I never knew you at all

You had the love to save my life

When it meant giving your own.

Crawled out of the Muggles

And they whispered in your brain

Sent you off to Hogwarts

Where you met your life's love James

And it seems to me, you lived your life like a candle in the wind

Never thought about yourself when the evil walked right in

I wish I could have known you when I was a kid

Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did

Your life at school was tough

The toughest when you hid away

And Voldemort found you

And death was the price you paid

Even when you died

They didn't think of you

The Daily Prophet told of my tale

And my youth

And it seems to me, you lived you life like a candle in the wind

Never thought about yourself when the evil walked right in

I wish I could have known you when I was a kid

Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did

Goodbye Mother Dear

Though I never knew you at all

You had the love to save my life

When it meant giving your own

Goodbye Mother Dear

I'm closer now than I ever was

To see you as something more than close to me

Or as just Lily Potter because

It seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind

Never thought about yourself when the evil walked right in

I would have liked to have known you when I was a kid

Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did

Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did.

Author's Note (Yes another one): Well, here it is, my first songfic so be a little understanding. Please review or send owls to be at mtfbwya@pacbell.net. Thanks for taking the time to read it.
