Being able to fly away

Disclaimer: HP belongs to J.K.Rowling. And the lyric used is "Caged bird" by Alicia Keys.

A/N: This is a sad story where Harry reflects Hedwig's dead with his own life and wishes.

Harry was standing in the living room near Hedwig's cage he was staring outside the window, watching the little snowflakes falling. The street below was quit and empty for it was very early in the morning.

"You know we are very alike" said the raven haired man out loud, sighing slightly before continuing "We both are clocked behind bars but…"he paused to look a the white owl.

Right now I feel like a bird

Caged without a key

"My bars are different, my girl they aren't made of metal, copper, or any material made by man…no, they aren't". Hedwig was making piping sounds; she was reaching the end of her days any anytime soon now. Harry looked at her with sad eyes she had been the only company he had when he still lived with the Dursley. He always told his insecurities to her,

he didn't know if she had understood him then but he always thought she was a smart bird. A loyal friend.

Everybody comes to stare at me

With so much joy and rivalry

"We both were locked in cages in order to be sheltered from the outside world. But what we really wanted was to spread our wings and fly away" He sobbed a little remembering the abuse he suffered with his relatives only because of the blood protection.

They didn't know how I feel inside

Though my simile I cry

They don't know what they're doin' to me

"We are birds locked in golden cages for we got everything provided. Everything but our liberty". Hedwig fluttered her wings three times and blinked before closing them definitely. And then absolute silence. While she fluttering a feather came lose it floated a little until it came to rest at Harry's feet. 'Her last gift' He thought.

Keeping me from flyin'

That's why I say that

I know why the caged bird sings

Only joys come from song

She's so rare and beautiful to others

"Together we sing a lonely song that people hear but don't comprehend the intense meaning of it". He took the owl from the cage.

Why not set her free

So she can fly

Fly, fly, fly

"We are very similar indeed" Harry took a white cloth and covered the old bird. "No… That's not true..." He proceeds "No cause now you're free to fly…fly away. But I can't, I am not allowed. Goodbye girl"

Spreading her wings and her song

Let her

Fly, fly, fly

For the hole world to see

She's like a caged bird

"Daddy? " a little girl with beautiful brown eyes asked opening slowly the living room's door " Daddy, what are you doing?"

"Nothing 'pumpkin' let's get you tucked in bed" He took his daughter in his arms stroking her soft brown hair and went to the bedroom.

Fly, fly

' I'll miss ya girl' He thought giving the colorless cloth one last glance before turning around.

Ooh just let her fly

Just let her fly

Just let her fly

Spread the wings

Spread the beauty

A/N: I wrote this story for my Spanish class a time ago (with other characters) and now I combined the lyrics "Caged bird" and I think I made a good use of it.

If there are grammar or spelling faults I am sorry but I am not writing in my own language.

Thx nn

Review please.
