This angsty little plunny just grabbed hold and wouldn't let go. Not my fault, I swear.

The white-clad thief weaved through the night sky, avoiding police and buildings alike. He set off an inflatable distraction, grinning all the while as the police took off after the pseudo-Kid. Really, those fools never learned. But then again, perhaps that was better. If they did know what they were doing, they wouldn't be half as much fun to tease.

He landed on a familiar rooftop and his grin widened. "Ah, my dear Tantei, what can I do for you?" His deep baritone voice echoed slightly in the night sky.

"You're too cocky, Kid. The day I catch you will come." Deep blue eyes analyzed him.

"I'm sure, Tantei. And when that day comes, I shan't complain." Kid swooped down and planted a chaste kiss on the detective's waiting lips. "Until then, however, I must bid you Adieu. Good night, Tantei." And with that, the illustrious thief took to the sky once more.

The meetings continued between thief and tantei, each growing more attached to the other.

"This can't keep happening." The detective whispered, leaning against Kid's large form. "What will happen when someone finds out?"

"Indeed. Our reputations shan't receive any mercy, that's for sure." Kid sighed, burying his face in Kudo's hair, inhaling deeply. "Do you want me to leave?" The detective never answered, his consciousness already succumbing to rest. Kid sighed and moved his detective away so that he could leave before morning.

The heist was going particularly well, the police having yet to realize the jewel they're guarding was a fake. Meanwhile, Kid was already heading up to the roof for his usual face off with the detective. The door swung open and Kid spotted the detective already waiting for him.

"Nice trick," Tantei rewarded, "Stealing the jewel earlier in the day and replacing it with a fake. I take it the police still haven't figured it out?"

"Nope." Kid smirked. "Which leaves you with plenty of time to try to catch me." His grin threatened to split his face.

Kudo pulled out a matching smirk and surged forward, lips colliding hard against Kid's. The thief leaned into the kiss, eyes closing, until a certain metallic click brought him back to the present.

"I'm sorry." The tantei whispered, his hands tightening the cuffs around Kid's wrists.

"So am I." Kid murmured. The police burst onto the roof, applauding Kudo for his miraculous capture. Kudo smiled sadly back, his eyes hidden as the police surrounded his thief.

"You're under arrest, Kid!" Nakamori shouted, making a grab for the criminal.

"So I am." Kid made no protest as the officers manhandled him, leading him to the squad car. "Excellent capture, Kudo-tantei." Kudo watched sadly as a lone tear escaped down his cheek.

A small hand clasped his shoulder. "It's not your fault, Yusaku." The blonde actress said. "Toichi-sensei always knew that you would choose justice first."

Yusaku's head did not lift. "Yukiko's right, Kudo-kun." Another blonde actress comforted. "Toichi-sensei knew exactly which side of the law he was on."

"Sharon-chan…" Yukiko whispered. She smiled sadly. "I guess we all knew what was happening, didn't we?" She sighed. "Toichi won't blame you, Yusaku."

"He should." Yusaku whispered, brokenly. "I deserve it." Neither of them replied.

"Look." Sharon said, finally. Yusaku slowly lifted his head to see a white blur flying through the sky. "You see? Kid won't stay caught for long."

Yusaku gazed at the thief remorsefully. The Kid's capture wasn't the only thing he'd lost that night. The police's frustration and anger paled in comparison to the fact that Kid would never again trust him.
