An Understanding

Edward was sitting at his piano composing a new piece when Jacob came in and sat down on the couch heavily and sighed. Edward keeps playing only to be interrupted every few seconds by a loud sigh from Jacob. Edward turns around to face Jacob and asks if there is something he needs.

"I wanted to ask you a question," Jacob said looking down. " Does it ever bother you that you are stuck at seventeen forever?"

"Well, it used to bother me a lot but now I have my Bella and a beautiful daughter to enjoy eternity with." Edward said smiling softly. "Why do you ask?"

"It's just that sometimes I wish that I could be changed so I would never have to leave Renesmee. I never want to hurt her or take her away from you and Bella. I don't understand how you could tell her that you would be okay with her killing herself after I die."

Jacob said all this with disbelief and an underlying tone of anger when speaking about his sweet Nessie killing herself. Edward knew he was referring to a conversation which had taken place a couple of days ago. Edward and Bella had reassured Nessie that she would never have to be away from Jacob after he was unable to continue transforming and started aging again. They had told Nessie they would not attempt to stop her from killing herself if she couldn't live without Jacob.

"Jacob I could never say that Nessie could not do what I attempted to do myself. That would be hypocritical and wrong. I know that if the day comes when you aren't here anymore she won't be far behind you. I have accepted that fact and so should you. Enjoy the time you have with her now and try to live in the present." Edward said.

"Yeah I guess so."

Jacob stood up and walked to the door and turned around to smile mischievously at Edward "Thanks Dad." Then Jacob took off running with Edward not far behind.

THE END

Also I thought I would put in here that when I hear about people cheering for Team Jacob or Team Edward all I can think about is that I am on the team of that blade of grass that was on the edge of the screen on the movie Eclipse.
