Dominator grumbled to herself as she kept marching forward. Her hair was messed up and sweaty, her armor was ripped and torn to pieces, and her plans for destroying the galaxy had blown up in her face- figuratively and literally. She growled in frustration. How could she, the most powerful being in the galaxy, loose to a bunch of DORKY LOOSERS!? It infuriated her. But at the same time puzzled her. She had a massive army, a powerful lava/ice suit, and an impenetrable spaceship. She had the power and intimidation to back it up. She was smart, clever, and cunning-they were all idiots and buffoons! It made no sense!?
She angrily swiped at the bubble, almost causing it to burst.
"HOW DID I LOSE TO A BUNCH OF DORKS!?"
Dominator stopped walking. She plopped herself down and rested her fists under her chin. She floated there in her orbal bubble, angrily growling to herself and gazing at the infinite space below her. She had no money and no food. She was tired and angry and upset.
She was exactly how she first felt when she had left home.
The thoughts of her childhood home stirred in her mind as she started to recall the worst days of her childhood…
7 year old Dominator was constantly being ignored by her family. It's not that they didn't care about her. They were just so busy that they forgot that she even existed.
Today was Dominator's first day of the 2nd grade. She had a new backpack, a new outfit, and a great big smile on her face. She ran out of her room, down the stairs, and into the kitchen. She opened the cupboard and pulled out a box of cereal. She went into another cupboard and pulled out a bowl. Opening the fridge, she pulled out a carton of milk. She set everything on the table and poured the cereal and milk into the bowl. She went over to the kitchen drawer and pulled out a spoon. Dominator quickly wolfed down her breakfast and went into her mother's office. It was the only room in the house that Dominator ever found her in. She tapped on her mother's arm. "Mommy! It's my first day in the second grade! Will you take me to the bus stop, I don't wanna be late!"
Her mother didn't even glance away from her paperwork. "That's nice dear." She mumbled.
Dominator tugged at her mother's arm again. "Common mom! I don't want to be late!"
Her mother groaned and shooed Dominator away.
Dominator went back into the kitchen where she knew her father was getting his first cup of coffee. "Daddy! It's my first day of 2nd grade! Will you take me to the bus stop, I don't wanna be late!"
Her father took a sip of his coffee. "Not now kid," he said, "I'm busy."
"Dee. My name is Dee, daddy."
"Huh? Yeah, whatever." He sat down at the kitchen table and picked up a newspaper and started to read it.
Dominator glanced up at the clock. If she didn't leave for the bus stop now, she'd miss the bus and be late on her first day. She couldn't let that happen-not on her first day!
She grabbed her backpack and headed for the front door. "I'm going to school now!" She announced.
There was no response.
Not wanting to be late, Dominator hurried out of the house and raced to the bus stop. Thankfully, she didn't have to go too far since the bus stop was only a few feet from her house. This wasn't the first time her parents didn't answer her questions. Anytime she asked them a question they would shoo her away or tell her, "Not now." Instead of continuing to ask the same question over and over, she would just wait patiently for them to get their work done so that they can answer her questions. Maybe they would even spend a little time with her…
The bus pulled up to the bus stop and Dominator eagerly got on. As the bus strolled down the road Dominator thought about all of the new friends that she was going to make. Preschool through 1st grade weren't the greatest friend-making times for Dominator…but she was determined that this year she was going to make so many new friends that she wouldn't have to worry about ever being alone ever again!
The bus stopped in front of a small school building. Dominator jumped off the bus, adjusted her backpack straps, and checked to make sure that her new pink dress was still clean. She took a deep, confident breath and proudly marched into the building. Dominator found her new classroom and took a seat right at the front. The teacher came in and, after introducing himself, asked the kids to introduce themselves when he pointed to them. All of the kids said their names. When the teacher pointed to Dominator she stood up and eagerly shouted, "My name is Dee and I want you to be my friend!"
Some of the kids started to giggle.
The teacher smiled. "Thank you, Dee, please have a seat."
Dominator awkwardly sat down. She didn't know why the other kids were laughing. All she said was that she wanted to be friends. Maybe they thought that she was telling a joke or something? She didn't really know.
At lunch all of the kids went outside for recess. Dominator walked over to a group of girls who were playing jump rope. "Hi!" Dominator said in her most cheerful voice, "Can I play with you?"
The girls kept playing their game. Dominator wondered if they didn't hear her. They should have heard her-he was right next to them. She repeated her sentence but louder. "Hey! Can I play with you?"
The girls didn't even glance at her. Confused, Dominator walked over to another group of kids who were playing hopscotch. Dominator smiled and again said in a cheerful tone, "Hey, can I play with you?"
One of the boys in the group gave Dominator a weird look. "Go away. Can't you see we're playing?"
Dominator frowned. "But I just want to be your friend. Why can't we all play?"
The boy rolled his eyes. "Because, we already have enough kids playing hopscotch. We don't need anyone else!"
A girl with pig tails laughed out loud, "Hey, don't be mean. All she wants is to be our friend, remember?"
"Oh yeah!" the boy laughed, "You're that weird kid from this morning!" The other kids in the group laughed too.
Dominator's frown turned into an angry scowl. She pushed the boy down on the ground. "Whatever! I don't even want to play with you! YOU"RE ALL NERDS!"
Dominator stormed off. She didn't know why she pushed the kid down. All she wanted was to make friends, to have someone to talk to and to play with. Aside from teasing her, he didn't really do anything wrong to her. Dominator felt two things while pushing the kid down.
1.) She felt kind of powerful.
2.) It felt good seeing him weak.
I don't need them, she thought to herself, I don't need my parents. I don't need friends. I'm fine on my own!
It was Dominator's 16th birthday. She decided that today was the perfect day to run away.
She opened the front door and walked out like any other day and strolled down the street in the middle of the night, her only possessions contained within her back pack. She walked along the darkened streets; her only light being the moon and the stars above. The sweet little girl she once was now has disappeared. Her once long white hair was now cut short with her head shaved on both sides leaving her hair only parted in the middle. She wore black clothes and wore black makeup. Her attitude and personality went from happy and cheerful to rebellious and resentful. She even changed her name to "Dominator" because "Dee" wasn't a name that scared the snot out of kids. All throughout her years at school she built up the reputation of school bully. Little children were scared of her, other bullies and older kids feared her, and even the teachers were afraid of punishing her. At the parent -teacher's conference the teachers would ask Dominator's parents if there was something at home that was effecting Dominator's behavior at school. He parents told them that "everything is fine" and "we're happy as a family".
They couldn't be more far from the truth.
Her parents ignored and neglected her all her life, their only main concern with getting their work done. Even though she tried to be patient with them at first her patience quickly wore out. She realized that she could do whatever she wanted and her parents wouldn't even bat an eye. It worked when she took a couple of bills form her mother's purse, it worked when she came home however late she wanted, it even worked when she snuck out into town one night. She didn't even need to sneak back inside that's how much her parents didn't care what she did!
Well, none of that mattered now. She was sick and tired of being ignored and unnoticed.
Now, she was never going to be ignored again.
Now, she was going to make herself noticed…
A rumble from her stomach broke Dominator from her thoughts. Judging from her stomach's growl she had been floating in space for a long time, the last thing she ate was that "friendship" orange.
She got up and looked around for a planet to stop at. There had to be a place around here that a galaxy destroying 'gal can get a bite to eat, right?
A/N: I originally was going to make this a short story but my sister like this and suggested that I expand upon it, so I'm making it a mini-story.
